Today we’d like to introduce you to Los Wizzards. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Los Wizzards’ story starts with Wizzmer, arriving in Miami in 2015, wanting to create a music project with a fresh sound. Playing the Venezuelan Cuatro, Wizzmer found a way to connect with the Miami people and create a community around an Open Mic/Jam Session that used to happen every week in Doral, inviting singers and musicians from all types of backgrounds to share that commune language that they share.
Juseph Ballestero, Rafael Querales, Samy Hawk, Roy G Robinson, Alex Coombs, Tony Trombone, and Wizzmer were the initial member of the band. Together they traveled the US, and cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Ohio, NYC, and Nashville got to witness the Los Wizzards’ energetic performance.
In 2020, Los Wizzards became the House Band for the Miami Heat performed at the Okeechobee Fest and released their first Album called Spanglish Love. Being part of the community of Miami, Los Wizzards have given back by performing for Camillus House and many other fundraisers.
For 2024, Los Wizzards are working on a new album and focusing on the summer’s tour.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Los Wizzards have found a way to be an independent band founded by performing live. They know that their biggest strength is the live show.
In 2019, the entire band traveled to NYC with no gigs around and after a few street performances, the phone started ringing. The band has that saying when people don’t know the project: “Give them until the first set is done”. It always works.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
We enjoy so much playing together.
Being present is the most beautiful thing for us as a team and as a family. We’d like to remain humble and grounded as we grow. We’d love to perform at the Super Bowl Half-Time Show one day with the smile of knowing that we did it together.
