Life & Work with Leon Covington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leon Covington.

Hi Leon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well, it all started when I was about five years old watching my mom and grama in the kitchen making meals for their families. One day my mom got sick and needed help in the kitchen. I figured heck I watch her and her mom, which is my grama’s cook on a daily so it can’t be that hard right lol. Well, I did it, got in the kitchen, and made a whole meal. Cooking has always been my passion seeing people’s faces while they eat my food brings joy to my soul. I just said, ”hell” let’s make this a career this is what I love to do so why not make money out of it. Well, I ask my beautiful wife what she thinks about the whole quitting my full-time job where I was a Supervisor making good money to become a Private chef/ caterer, of course, like any other woman would, she was hesitant but we prayed about it together and she did not stand in the way of my dreams and that’s why I love her, so we came up with a name that represents our family of five, c5cooks & catering. My 1st thing was content for a bake sale. Oh yes, I can bake too, lol. My famous Banana pudding, I made sure my presentation was on point, my wife took pictures, I posted the pictures on social media and the likes and comments begin. After that, I did a huge dinner sale and bake sale which I sold out and got a lot of feedback which is something I wanted Because I knew I wanted to take off in this industry. Well, fast forward to now I travel and do big events with my wife by my side. Thank God for her.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy but with dedication and my passion and hard work, I don’t mind the bumps in the road. The biggest struggle is getting the information that you need to succeed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a private chef and caterer. I specialize in homemade from scratch meals. I’m known for my soul food dinners. My best sellers are my turkey wings, ribs, banana pudding, and red velvet cake. I’m most proud of the fact that I took my passion, something I’ve loved doing since a young age, and turned it into a profitable business. What sets me apart from others is I give my customers an experience that is personal distinctive and effortless.–

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest cheerleader is my wife without her I would not know where I would be since day one she has been my biggest support system. and teammates which are our three boys. They look up to me so I am happy to make them proud. I’ve always had a huge support system from my family and my wife’s family the village is big and I’m thankful for that.
