Life & Work with Kileigh Nichelle of United States

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kileigh Nichelle.

Hi Kileigh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began at the intersection of style and digital storytelling in Pittsburgh, PA. What started as a fashion blog expanded into a virtual styling service and eventually into a professional remote role as a culture writer for a Las Vegas blog. That era was my training ground to understand consumer behavior. It introduced me to product reviewing and influencer marketing, giving me a front row seat to how audiences truly engage with brands.

In 2016, I leaped and launched KI.BY.KN, a fashion brand dedicated to innovative essentials for modern women. For five years, I navigated the complexities of global design and e-commerce full-time through the pandemic. I was living my dream, but the reality of solo scaling, while also juggling freelance digital marketing and hair reviewing, eventually led to burnout. I learned a vital lesson during that time: passion needs a sustainable process to survive.

That realization fueled my next pivot. I established KNS Studios, a digital marketing agency born from a spark of inspiration from TikTok and a deep desire to help beauty brand owners and nonprofits reclaim their time. The success I created remotely for an LA-based client gave me the confidence to offer my services to other founders. Within two years, the business sustained me and supported my relocation to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.

By year three, I pioneered Sprint Services, delivering 90 days of strategic copy in just 12 days. I did these entirely by hand, rooted in manual strategy long before AI became the industry standard. However, as the market became oversaturated and AI began to loom, I realized that more content was not what founders needed. They needed operational clarity.

Last June, I rebranded the agency into Chelle and Co., a Content Strategy and Operations firm. We moved away from the traditional agency model to help founders, freelancers, and community builders scale sustainably. Our signature content calendar subscription, The Drop Off, is the evolution of those early Sprints.

Today, through our Content Engine System and our Content Concierges, we allow our members to hand off their content operations entirely. We provide the consistency that compounds into results, so our members can stop worrying about content operations and focus on their genius while we handle the execution.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from smooth. It is a roller coaster with high highs and low lows, and with over a decade of entrepreneurship under my belt, I have felt it all. One of my biggest hurdles was the decision to self-fund my business. Accessing loans and grants was difficult and far too time-consuming. I self-funded through business revenue and credit cards. While that strategy felt smart at the time, it is something you truly pay for later, especially within a rapidly changing economy and digital landscape.

The rise of AI has also been a double-edged sword for the digital marketing industry. It has helped and hurt in equal measure. Many people now feel they can DIY their content, which is one of the primary reasons we moved away from the traditional retainer model. Founders today want a low-touch, done-for-them experience that actually works.

The reality is that while AI can write for you, it often fails to grasp the nuance of current trends or the specific context of your brand voice. Most importantly, it surely does not execute operations yet. That is exactly where we come in with The Content Engine. We bridge the gap between automated intelligence, high-level strategy, and the execution that founders actually need to see results.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would describe myself as multifaceted. I am not just a creative or an artist. I am also a strong businesswoman with a natural ability for pattern recognition, strategy, and system development.

I think sometimes creatives can lean so heavily into the artistic side that the business side becomes difficult, and sometimes professionals can become so focused on business that they lose touch with creativity. For me, I’ve always enjoyed the balance between the two.

Through my journey, though, I learned something important about myself: I do not enjoy turning every passion into a business. When it comes to fashion, sculpting with plaster or clay, or painting, I want those forms of expression to exist freely. I enjoy creating physical art when I feel inspired. Once a capitalistic mindset enters that process, it can create pressure around sales and performance, and for me, that removes some of the joy from something I am naturally talented in.

I’ve found that the balance thrives most in digital marketing. I jokingly call myself part of the top 1% of chronically online users, but the truth is, I am often strategically scrolling, studying patterns, and activating conversations for my company and the members we serve. Digital marketing gives me the space to be creative while also working toward a clear business outcome.

I am naturally good at business, and with digital marketing, I get to combine creativity, strategy, systems, and conversions. I love for my physical artwork to simply exist, but I enjoy creating content that produces results.

How do you think about luck?
I was lucky enough to scale my first agency to $9,500 in just three months, totaling $60,000 by the end of the first year. That early success solidified a high standard for me. It took only two weeks of hard work and luck to close my first retainer client back then. The economy, consumer behavior, and a less crowded market all contributed to that momentum.

When I rebranded and launched Chelle and Co., I expected success to come even faster. I was more knowledgeable, more skilled, and I had created a model specifically tailored to the current economic climate. However, while rebuilding the firm, I was navigating unforeseen circumstances that had my focus split across too many sectors.

It took five months to close a single client under the new firm and eleven months to secure clients in the way I actually designed the model to function. Even though I was 10x-ing my output this time around, I was seeing fewer immediate results.

I learned the hard way that hard work alone does not always equate to the outcomes you desire on your specific timeline, regardless of the intensity of your efforts. Throughout my life, my drive has always allowed me to access the best experiences first.

Now, I am adjusting to a new reality: the process of letting hard work compound over time rather than expecting an instant return. It has been a humbling shift in perspective.

However, I have brought the dreams I established a decade ago to reality. I started my twenties as a full-time entrepreneur.

I have done just that, while making a name for myself. Feel free to Google “Kileigh Nichelle” to view the AI summary. It wasn’t just luck that built this. It was also pure grit. I have truly dedicated my life to my vision.

As I close out this decade, I have experienced both extremes of the realities of entrepreneurship.

Next decade, I have an archive of knowledge and experience to build on. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my empire and solidifying new pillars from my foundational learnings.

I am ready to prevail and invite founders who want to scale sustainably into the systems I’ve designed from lived experience.
