Life & Work with Katarina Tatiana Colvin of South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katarina Tatiana Colvin

Hi Katarina Tatiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Katarina Tatiana Colvin. I am a Thai-American woman who was born in Louisville Kentucky, but I was raised and grew up in South Florida since I was 7 years old. I learned very young how to be a strong independent woman who can provide for herself and have still been learning to this day and to inspire others to do the same. Therefore, I go by the name “Girlbosskat.”

As far as I can remember, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial/hustler mindset from a young age. I’ve had my own small businesses since I was 14 years old, whether it be selling chips and candy out of a duffel bag at school or reselling thrifted vintage clothes online.

As I got older, I got into a lot of trouble throughout my highschool years and barely graduated. Luckily, my small business is what got me a scholarship to a business academy at my college Nova Southeastern University. I then studied marketing in an accelerated business program (Huizenga Business Innovation Academy) to graduate within 3 years.

As I struggled heavily with my self-identity and severe depression throughout college, I found a joy and passion towards food and making fun and exciting vlog style videos on social media trying food and for some reason, these videos put smiles on peoples faces. I spent my 3rd year operating a solo owned Asian food business inspired by my Mothers handed down Thai recipes called “Kat’s Asian Kuisine” that ended up achieving an award for the most profitable solo run student business upon the scholarship Academy that year of 2022-2023. Throughout all of this, I lost my father that same year and my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer out of nowhere which only taught me to persevere more than ever to achieve my goals and dreams.

As I started my career in social media marketing after graduation, a great friend, past classmate and coworker of mine, Grant Bernstein, suggested i take my food review videos serious because he saw a potential in me. I began collaborating with local restaurants and franchises in October 2024, and by December 2024, I took the leap to quit my corporate job and pursue social media content creation full time. I had such a strong passion and love for the culture, creation, and artistry behind food my whole life that I wanted to share it with the world. It was from there to now that I now have the opportunity to share local hidden gems, food spots, and travel destinations, that deserve more recognition, as well as family owned and solo owned restaurants, and establishments that may be struggling, and meeting so many amazing characters throughout this journey with our shared love for food. This experience changed my life, gave me something to live for and I can’t wait to share smiles and delicious food spots with the world on my social media @comewithkat on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of my most difficult challenges trying to grow as a food content creator were working a 9 to 5 to not only survive, but pay off my student loans and learn more about marketing as I worked as a social media marketing coordinator. Another struggle was finding my identity as a food content creator as there are thousands of others doing exactly the same and finding your identity and uniqueness for what sets you apart. I never saw my age as a obstacle but definitely my editing skills in general trying to make my videos engaging, entertaining, and getting to the point to spread a message and call to action about a place.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-time content creator and serial entrepreneur of a variety of online businesses. I specialize in creating honest and engaging food and travel content to spread the message of a business or establishment. I’m best known for my exciting persona and fun editing that keeps viewers engaged towards my food reviews across different social media platforms. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come as a self made womanprenur as in today’s society, there’s a lot of competition and people to bring you down. What sets me apart from others is my drive, motivation, passion, outlook towards life itself. When I walk into a food or recreational establishment, I see the potential in what I can create with a video to bring people to the establishment and coming back. As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned a lot about marketing and bringing a humanization and authenticity to my videos that make people want to act after watching. I think my talent for connecting with people and inspiring them to go somewhere or do something from what I said, is an amazing feeling and I am very proud of it.
