Today we’d like to introduce you to Karol Galeano Alcala.
Hi Karol, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi, I’m Karol. I’m the owner of Platinum Beauty Bar located in Miramar, FL. I started my business in 2018 when I was working in the manufacturing and distribution industry and had already been working in the same industry for over 10 years. I was working a regular 9-5 Job and was struggling to make ends meet with my husband. My husband all the sudden got a $40k pay cut and being a young family with 3 small children in Miami was rough.
Every week, we would take out loans to help cover the bills. Being a mother to three beautiful children including one that is Special Needs, I knew I needed to do more to help get my family out of the financial struggle we were facing.
One day while scrolling on Instagram, I saw that a local Microblading Artist was hosting a Giveaway for one lucky winner to win a Microblading Course for FREE.
I immediately KNEW inside that this was for me and entered. I was later announced winner out of 30 women that entered the Course Giveaway. I had NO experience in the beauty industry or with eyebrows whatsoever. I barely knew how to shape an eyebrow nevertheless how to tattoo someone’s face. I then began my journey as a Permanent Makeup Artist.
I started in my bedroom, working weeknights and weekends after work until the pandemic, I was laid off and was left with no option but to sink or swim. I decided to do PMU full-time and to never go back to working for anyone. I wanted to be my own boss and make an impact in people’s lives.
2 years after starting my business, I opened up my storefront, hired a team, and I now have an academy where I teach women how to become independent Permanent Makeup artists and Entrepreneurs to do what I do.
I truly found a passion in connecting with women and helping them grow. I am fascinated by watching people flourish and win too. I wanted to create a business that didn’t just service women, but rather become friends with them, get to know their stories and inspire them.
Platinum Beauty has changed my life for the better. 12 years ago, I was practically homeless living out of my car while pregnant with my first child. Today, I am a better mother, wife, friend, artist & mentor because of it. Now I want to share my story with anyone going through some tough times and also share a message of hope and inspiration. This is where Beauty Meets Impact.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a very difficult road to success but with lots of faith and lots of Jesus, we made it. I knew this was going to be the path with the most resistance but I knew deep inside that it would be worth it. I think obstacles are actually a great thing because it forces us to become a better version of our selves and builds character. It forces us to become more creative.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Permanent Makeup Artist, Trainer, and Beauty Business Mentor. What sets me apart from others is that I love to see women win in their businesses and I truly have a passion for people. It’s not just about the business for me. I just genuinely love to help people and use my business to reach as many people as I can.
Can you talk to us about what you think about risks?
I’ve taken many risks in my business. I feel like it is necessary to take risks to take your business to the next level. If you don’t take risks then you are operating from a shortage mindset. To take risks is to grow.
