Life & Work with Jovan Clark of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jovan Clark

Hi Jovan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from Lancaster, PA, I started creating in various mediums from a young age.
My start in photography quickly turned into getting in front of the camera, where I made a solid career for myself in modeling. In 2018 I got signed by my first agency in New York City, and spent 2 years traveling between New York & West Chester University, where I got a B.S. in Finance & a Minor in Accounting.
During that time, I realized my true passions lied in creating & building my personal brand, JVNCLRK. As my social media following quickly grew, I decided to move to Miami, FL in 2021 to expand on my business & creative abilities.

In 2022, I held my first public display, “THE PROGRESSiON COLLECTiON”, inspired by nature and my hometown roots. With over 250 invitees in attendance, it was a night full of various types of entertainment and a debut of my art. The experience brought more attention to my abilities and allowed me to sell my first piece, legitimizing myself as a professional artist.
In the same year I also showcased my talent for fashion design with the launch of my clothing brand, WAS (Wolves Among Snakes).

Since moving to Miami I’ve continually dove deeper into my creativity through various mediums in the arts & entertainment space; as a model, influencer, stylist & creative director to name a few.

Now known as a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur with a bright future, you can find me working on myself & my many projects here in Miami.
One of the next steps is finding more ways to provide value to others; whether that be through education, financial assistance, or simply lending a hand or ear to someone in need.
I believe everything starts with self and as we better ourselves, we can better the world around us.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Far from it….like any entrepreneurial journey, the road is never easy. It takes a lot of discipline, consistency, self belief, and persistence to overcome the challenges that any new brand faces. Some of the biggest challenges I’ve faced have been dealing with fake friends & unethical business partners. I’ve dealt with a lot of people who do poor business by not following through on their word or financial contributions to make a project successful. My struggle in personal and business relationships has definitely had an effect on my mental health, something I’ve struggled with for most of my life. Overcoming the negative thoughts and emotions that come with this path are half the battle, but I know it will be worth it. I’ve made a big focus of mine to maintain a good mental state by staying around people and places that bring me peace. Doing so allows me to continue to prosper in the ways I need. I’ve also found positive outlets like training & art help me the most with releasing & expressing myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a creative in every way…..I paint, draw, sculpt, creative direct, model, style, design, & write. I’m also a photographer, videographer, photo & video editor, and touch on all areas of marketing & brand development….I like to stay diverse & continue my creative expansion. I’d consider my specialty/what sets me apart is my unique perspective/taste with everything I do; I study heavily & I immerse myself in whatever I’m getting involved in, so when it comes time to perform, I always have a strong understanding of what it is the team wants to achieve.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m always interested & open to the right collab opportunities with other individuals/brands. Being self funded can be a challenge at times; so the team & I would love to work with more investors/sponsors who see the vision and want to be apart of the success.
The support of the loyal fans is crucial. I’m very grateful for my current ones, and look forward to getting my art in front of more people who can relate and resonate it.
