Life & Work with Jennifer Haley of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Haley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I did not come to art through a straight line. I came to it through curiosity and a deep interest in how form, space, and energy shape our experience of a room. From the beginning, I was less interested in traditional representation and more drawn to creating objects that subtly shift how a space feels. That curiosity led me to experiment with layered materials, resin, dimensional surfaces, and sculptural wall work, which eventually became a language of its own.

Today, my practice centers on elevated wall sculptures that blend structure, stillness, and movement. The work is designed to live in architectural spaces, private residences, and hospitality environments where it anchors a room rather than competes with it. I am interested in restraint, balance, and the tension between softness and strength, creating pieces that feel intentional, grounded, and quietly powerful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most creative paths, it has not been a completely smooth road. One of the main challenges has been navigating how a nontraditional, dimensional practice fits within existing art and design frameworks. Working at the intersection of fine art, architecture, and interiors requires clarity around scale, materials, and placement, as well as educating clients on how the work lives in a space.

Another challenge has been the technical and logistical side of producing large, layered pieces, from material experimentation to fabrication and installation. Each work requires precision, planning, and a willingness to continually refine process. At the same time, building a sustainable studio practice means balancing creative exploration with the realities of production, collaboration, and long term growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
y work focuses on creating elevated wall sculptures that live between fine art and architecture. I specialize in large scale, dimensional pieces made with layered materials, resin, and mixed media that are designed to integrate seamlessly into a space rather than sit on top of it. The work is often quiet in tone but strong in presence, offering a sense of structure, balance, and calm.

I am known for creating pieces that anchor a room through restraint and composition rather than excess. My sculptures are intentionally designed to work in residential, hospitality, and design driven environments where material, light, and shadow play an important role. Rather than telling a literal story, the work invites a physical and emotional response through form, rhythm, and depth.

What I am most proud of is developing a distinct visual language that feels consistent, intentional, and adaptable across different scales and environments. Each piece is made with the understanding that it will become part of someone’s daily experience of a space.

What matters most to you? Why?
I am motivated by the idea that art becomes part of someone’s daily environment and contributes to the energy of a space. When a piece anchors a room, brings balance, or creates a sense of calm and clarity, it has done its job. In other settings, the work can introduce movement, excitement, and a sense of impulse that energizes the space and completes it in a subtle but meaningful way.

That relationship between form, energy, and human experience is what continues to drive my work and keeps the practice deeply intentional.
