Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaquay Adderley.
Hi Jaquay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In 2010, the leader of a popular entertainment group saw a video I produced on social media and reached out to me. I was welcomed into the world of comedy and entertainment, opening a new door for me to venture in. After working with them for years on comedy videos, stage plays, outreach initiatives, and more, I discovered a new love.
In 2013, a great friend of mine; gospel artist Eman, asked me to host his first gospel concert and I was hesitant at first but I accepted. Doors started opening since then which jump-started my hosting career.
Since then, I have branded into a young and energetic creative. I am now the founder of a youth entertainment organization by the name of Unorthobox, a writer, producer, actor, entertainer, and comedian by the name of DasQuay. My relatability, natural content, and loveable personality has catapulted me to be one of The Bahamas’ #1 entertainers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has not been a smooth road. There are many mountains I had to overcome as I grow in my field. Some of these struggles included self-doubt, procrastination, ridicule, failure to plan, time management, and even getting people to realize that outside of comedy and entertainment, I am still human.
I remember almost giving up comedy in the early part of my blooming career when I hosted my first two comedy shows. Less than 20 people showed up to both of them and I was discouraged. I didn’t give up though! After building my repertoire even more, I went out on a limb and hosted a third comedy show which was sold out! I was even able to bring over an international female gospel comedian, Anna Douglas which was even more incredible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an entertainer, comedian, consultant, event host, TV and stage actor, and entrepreneur. I specialize in event hosting and social media content creation.
I am most proud of my growth. I never saw myself as big and influential as I am today. I have always been quiet and shy growing up so being in front of the camera or in front of thousands of people was never on my radar. When God started to educate me on how DEEP my gift is, I started to take it more seriously. It is more than making people laugh or smile. It is more than bringing wholesome entertainment to viewers. It is more than bringing awareness to businesses. It is a ministry. Laughter can heal, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
In 2018, Go started to show me signs that it was time to move from my very stable, cash-flowing job. Lol. I was confused at first but I didn’t want to be disobedient. Even my boss checked in daily to make sure it was what I really wanted to do. He told me I can cancel my 2-week notice until I found another job or something else to fall back on financially. After pondering, I took the leap.
From the moment I left my job to the present date, I have not seen a slow day yet! Things really blew up for me. I started getting destination bookings, landed a role in several TV shows, and I even started performing on tour internationally. The risk was worth taking!
