Hi Geneisha , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After high school, I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take. I decided to explore different career options by enrolling at a technical school that offered programs in cosmetology, medical assisting, skincare, and massage therapy. It was in that setting where I discovered my passion for massage therapy. The program opened my eyes to the endless opportunities for growth and the chance to help people of all ages.
Though I also enjoyed learning about skincare—mainly the knowledge and benefits it brings—I realized that hands-on skincare wasn’t where my heart was. Over the years, I always dreamed of starting my own business, but I hesitated, unsure if I was ready. I believe it was a maturity thing, waiting for the right moment.
Now, I’ve never felt more prepared. I’ve taken the leap into running my own business, and it feels like everything has aligned. My next goal is to open a storefront where I can continue growing and helping even more people.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road, but like any journey, there have been some bumps along the way. At one point, I experienced burnout, which led me to explore other areas like skincare and laser hair removal while working for a corporate company within my field. Though I enjoyed learning new skills, I eventually found my way back to massage therapy, which is where my true passion lies.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed massage therapist, specializing in customized sessions that cater to each client’s unique needs. I offer a range of services, including deep tissue, myofascial release, prenatal, and targeted massages, all while incorporating therapeutic enhancements like CBD, hot stones, cupping, and aromatherapy. What sets me apart is that these elements are included in my sessions without extra charges, ensuring every client gets the best care based on what they need that day.
I’m most proud of building my own business, Therapeutic Trips, after years of wanting to work for myself. My approach to client care is very personal, and I focus on the overall well-being of those I serve. My experience in both skincare and massage therapy gives me a well-rounded perspective, but my passion for massage therapy keeps me grounded in what I love to do—helping people heal, relax, and feel their best.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the wellness industry, especially massage therapy, becoming even more integrated into people’s daily health routines. There’s a growing emphasis on holistic well-being, and massage therapy is evolving beyond just luxury or relaxation into a necessary part of self-care. More people are seeking customized and inclusive treatments that address their unique physical and mental needs, and I believe that will continue to grow.
We’re also seeing a rise in interest for specialized treatments like myofascial release, CBD-infused massages, and other therapeutic modalities that enhance the healing process. I think technology and wellness will further intertwine, with trends like IV therapy becoming more accessible, and innovations making it easier to track clients’ progress and personalize their care. The future is definitely focused on holistic health and wellness, and I’m excited to see where that takes us!
Personally, I see myself owning a storefront, managing it, and teaching others the importance of personalized customer service. In my experience, I have a unique ability to make people feel comfortable, and I’m very big on communication. I want to create an environment where both clients and staff feel heard and cared for, and I’m excited to build a team that embodies those values.
