Today we’d like to introduce you to Flor Pérez.
Hi Flor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Habla la Calma began from a personal need to slow down and reconnect with what truly matters. Like many people, I found myself caught in the constant pressure to be productive, busy, and always moving toward the next goal. Over time, I realized that this pace was taking me further away from a sense of peace, presence, and fulfillment.
As I started exploring minimalism, intentional living, and the principles of slow living, I discovered that a simpler life wasn’t about doing less for the sake of it, but about creating space for what is genuinely meaningful. These ideas gradually transformed the way I approached my daily life, my priorities, and even my relationship with time.
I created Habla la Calma as a place to share that ongoing journey. Rather than positioning myself as an expert, I wanted to build a space for reflection and conversation around living more consciously in a world that often encourages the opposite. Through videos about slow living, mindfulness, simplicity, and everyday habits, I hope to offer viewers a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present.
Today, the channel continues to evolve alongside my own personal growth. What began as a desire to find more calm in my own life has become a community of people who are also seeking a slower, more intentional way of living. That shared search for balance, presence, and authenticity is what continues to inspire me every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. While Habla la Calma was born from a desire to embrace a slower and more intentional way of living, building a YouTube channel comes with its own challenges and contradictions.
One of the biggest struggles has been navigating a digital environment that often rewards constant output, trends, and growth metrics. It can be difficult to stay aligned with the values of slow living when the platforms we use encourage speed, comparison, and productivity. I’ve had to learn how to create content without losing sight of the very principles that inspired the channel in the first place.
Another challenge has been overcoming self-doubt. Sharing personal reflections and experiences online requires vulnerability, and there have been moments when I questioned whether my message would resonate with others. In a world filled with noise and endless content, it’s easy to wonder if a quieter message has a place.
There have also been practical challenges—learning new skills, staying consistent, balancing creative work with everyday responsibilities, and accepting that growth often happens more slowly than we expect.
At the same time, those challenges have taught me some of the most valuable lessons. They’ve reminded me that meaningful work doesn’t always follow a linear path and that success isn’t only measured by numbers. The most rewarding part has been connecting with people who tell me that a video helped them slow down, reflect, or feel less alone in their search for a more intentional life. Those moments make every challenge worthwhile.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work focuses on helping people reconnect with the present moment and explore ways to live with greater simplicity, clarity, and purpose.
Rather than presenting slow living as a rigid set of rules, I approach it as an ongoing practice of paying attention to what truly matters. I share reflections, personal experiences, and practical ideas that encourage people to slow down, simplify their lives, and cultivate a healthier relationship with time, productivity, and consumption.
What I am most proud of is the community that has formed around these conversations. Knowing that my content has encouraged someone to pause, reflect, or make small changes that bring more peace into their daily life is incredibly meaningful to me. In many ways, the channel has become a reminder that there are many people seeking a different pace and a more intentional way of living.
What sets Habla la Calma apart is its emphasis on calm as a way of being, not as a destination to achieve. I’m not interested in promoting perfection, productivity disguised as self-improvement, or an idealized version of slow living. Instead, I try to create an honest and welcoming space where people can reflect on their own lives and discover what a slower, more conscious lifestyle means for them.
I believe that even in a fast-paced world, there is value in choosing simplicity, presence, and enoughness. That perspective is at the heart of everything I create.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck has played a subtle but present role in my journey, although I wouldn’t describe it as the defining factor.
In some ways, there has been “good luck” in the form of timing and access: discovering slow living and minimalism at a moment in my life when I was actively questioning my pace and priorities. That openness made it possible for me to connect deeply with these ideas and eventually turn them into Habla la Calma. I’ve also been fortunate to meet and connect with people who resonate with the message, which has helped the project grow in a very organic way.
At the same time, there have been moments that could be seen as “bad luck” or simply uncertainty—periods where things didn’t grow as expected, or where I didn’t feel fully clear on direction. But even those moments ended up being part of the process. They pushed me to slow down, reassess, and stay aligned with the intention behind the channel rather than forcing external results.
Overall, I see my path less as something shaped by luck alone and more as a combination of timing, awareness, and consistency. I do believe opportunities matter, but I also believe that how you respond to them—and whether you choose to stay aligned with your values—is what ultimately shapes the direction of the work.
What I try to hold onto is the idea that not everything needs to be controlled. Sometimes things unfold in their own time, and there is value in trusting that rhythm rather than rushing it.
