Life & Work with Faith Michel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Michel.

Hi Faith, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the oldest of four on my mom’s and the oldest of two on my dads. I have two inspiring little girls ages of five and one years old. I started doing hair a little over a half a decade ago. I want to say at the age of 9 or 10 years old. My mom attended Beauty Schools of America and dropped out due to financial reasons. I would always play in her school bag because it just looks like so much fun. Even in my younger days, I would ask for brats dolls heads to do there hair because I have a passion for beauty. So during these times, my mom would put me to the test and let me help her do her friends hair and eventually, I started doing my own peers hair at such a young age. Fast forward, I got to high school and joined some social clubs, attended activities, and also joined the flagette team, all in my freshman year. All of this was too much for my mom. So I took my talent and turned it into what could have possibly been my career. Before I could even get to the next grade, I was making money of my own and as a young kid that was the best feeling. I was able to do everything cause I was making my own money with my passion. As the year went by, I stayed constant and over the years, I’ve gotten better and better. There was nights I barely got any sleep when it came to holidays or back to school but I made sure to be up cause ever year, I did not want to miss my first day of school. Especially to see everyone hair that I did. As more years went by, I graduated and became a big girl into the real world. Now, I’m currently living a dream and I wouldn’t ask for anything more. I was doing hair at home for a while. Now I’m in my own suite. I’m where I’m at because if manifesting! Still learning and I have a lot to improve. But the only way to go from here is UP!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life is smooth. There’s always going to be obstacles. That’s what makes you appreciate the good. But for the most part, I’ve had come across positive clients.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist that specializes in sew-ins, quick weaves, ponytails, etc.! I think my glow up moment was when I started getting into ponytails so that’s when I became more popular. So that would be my specialty. I’m mostly proud of how much better I’m getting every year and my big accomplishment this year is getting my suite.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, what keeps my mind active and moving forward is learning from mistakes other people made. I’ve took few classes this year and also took some notes from some mentors and that helps me better myself.
