Life & Work with Edgard Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edgard Martinez.

Hi Edgard, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career in photography/videography started as a hobby. I love going to the mountains and hiking, seeing the fall colors, observing the wildlife, and viewing sunsets behind mountain vistas. I wanted to capture those moments so I bought my first professional camera and spent a lot of time outdoors taking pictures and filming videos while traveling. I started to gather ideas about pursuing a career in nature photography when my path quickly changed! My wife bought a pretty cool pair of hiking boots with a cactus design on them for our camping trip to the desert. While on our first hike with the boots on, I started getting ideas of photographing the boots when I saw the contrast of colors of the sand and cliffs against the colors of the shoes. I started shooting various pictures of the boots. It was really fun photographing a product and getting to work with a model. I decided to send the pictures I had taken to the shoe company. They were very impressed and decided they wanted to work with me. Since then, product photography/videography has become my full time job and I am happy to say that I love it!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every job is different and some are more challenging than others, but it all balances out evenly.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself an artist. I am a creative director specializing in product photography and videography. I have filmed videos and taken photographs of a large array of products. I focus on creating a theme that makes the product connect to the audience. I believe that it comes naturally to me because I am very passionate about what I do. I am known by my clients for my creativity and adaptability.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
When I shooting for a client, I take my time and focus on ensuring that my work is at its best at all times. I believe that my customers can see that as well.
