Hi Deana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as an international model from 1988 to 1992, where I had the privilege of representing everything from skincare to electronics. After becoming a mother to my two beautiful daughters, Kara and Falon, in 1992 and 1995, I decided to focus on my true passion—beauty and health. Over the years, I’ve studied to become a Licensed Paramedical Aesthetician, Licensed Certified and Clinical Medical Electrologist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and member of SCMHR. In 1996, I opened Back In Touch Day Spa in Sebring, Florida, offering a wide range of services, from lymphatic drainage massage to medical skincare treatments.
After selling Back In Touch, I relocated myself and my daughters to South Florida, and in 2013, opened BeautySmart Medical Spa in Boca Raton, fulfilling my dream of creating a boutique medical spa where our clients are treated like family. I’m incredibly proud that my daughters, Kara and Falon, have followed similar career paths—Kara focusing on health and nutrition, and Falon in hair and makeup—and together, we run BeautySmart Medical Spa.

We’re a female-owned, family-run business with a handpicked team of expert women who share our dedication to skincare & beauty. Our incredible team – Gina Bianca Leone, Kathy Corbo, Cale Sanchez, and Courtney Jenkins – have become an extension of our family. All injectables are expertly administered by Kathy Corbo, an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in Aesthetics and a background in OBGYN/Women’s Health. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing; as with any business, there have been challenges along the way. Over the years, partnerships have come and gone, and finding the right ‘tribe’ of like-minded, talented women who share our passion has been crucial, but not without its hurdles. Like it did with everyone, the COVID shutdown brought its own set of difficulties.
When I first started working in this industry, advertising was done through mailers, local magazines, newspaper ads, and taking part in community events. Needless to say, learning how to navigate social media was a bit of a curveball. It’s become such a dominant force for every type of business, and while it has zero to do with level of experience nor quality of work, it has been essential for reaching new customers and staying connected with our community. In a world where medical spas have become more and more prevalent, there has been more competition with every new year. We’ve used this to add fuel to our fire and push ourselves even harder.
Despite these obstacles, we’ve remained committed to providing the best possible care and results, which has been key to our resilience and growth.
