Life & Work with Dawn Schuster of Wynwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Schuster

Hi Dawn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve spent over a decade working in fabric sourcing, design, and brand management through my agency, Masala Threads, collaborating with amazing clients across the US, Australia, Europe, Canada, and the UK. My passion was always in creating bespoke collections and understanding the ins and outs of design and supply chains to make stunning products.

Living and traveling through India, I fell in love with the incredible luxurious fabrics, prints and techniques. I built meaningful relationships with talented artisans and learned a lot about ethical, sustainable production.

I started Eventelier because I saw a real gap in the wedding decor market for unique, custom items that truly reflect each client’s vision. For luxury weddings, brides and grooms should be able to create exactly what they want and let their imaginations run wild. Now, I get to partner with wedding planners and creatives who inspire me. Brainstorming with them is fantastic, and I love crafting extraordinary weddings that go way beyond cookie-cutter ideas.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been an easy road! It took me years of travelling, research and plenty of mishaps to find the amazing suppliers and artisans I work with and really build that trust. The process is intricate—especially sourcing special trims and working with hand-printing techniques, which take time and attention to detail. On top of that, I also do graphic design and printing for clients, so juggling everything can be a challenge. But it’s all been worth it to create something truly unique and meaningful for each event.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Eventelier, I source, design, and create decor in collaboration with skilled artisans to craft truly luxurious wedding experiences. We specialize in beautiful fabrics and intricate block printing, creating everything from tablecloths, napkins, parasols, and cushions to thoughtful gifts like totes, robes, pashminas and travel pouches for guests and bachelorette parties- ensuring every element fits together perfectly.

What makes us special is our ability to develop custom prints, design in exact colors, and even create patterns from scratch. I also offer graphic design services for stationery like menus and invitations, so every detail- from the decor to the paper goods—feels artfully connected and truly bespoke.

What I’m most proud of are the incredible relationships I’ve built with such talented artisans and my knack for finding unique items, whatever the request (and believe me we have had some obscure requests) that help make each wedding truly special.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role, both good and bad. In the early days, finding the right artisans and suppliers took a lot of trial and error—there were moments when things fell through, and I had to reassess quickly. But I also feel incredibly lucky now to have eventually found the perfect people who share my passion for craftsmanship and quality.

Some of the best opportunities have come through being in the right place at the right time or meeting someone unexpectedly who opened new doors. While luck has its part, I believe it’s also about staying persistent, not giving up and keeping my standards really high!
