Today we’d like to introduce you to David Baez.
David, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for hair started when I was a young boy
I remember one time when I was 6 years old grabbing schools scissors and asking my younger sister if she wanted a haircut and of course she said yes not knowing what the outcome was going to be.
A few years later i went to beauty school, and what started as passion quickly turned into a career.
And over the last 20 years I’ve grown alongside the industry
Like many in this field, I worked long hours, stayed committed through challenges, and constantly pushed myself to improve everyday.
Today I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the journey, lessons and the people who have been part of it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When the pandemic forced us to close the salon, I knew I had to find a way to still be there for our clients. We got creative and turned the salon into a drive-thru, sending clients home with their custom color formulas and a simple how-to video. It wasn’t easy, but it worked and it reminded me how powerful community and connection really are.
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road Building a career in the hair industry it took consistency, patience and resilience. Early on I faced long hours, financial uncertainty and the pressure of standing out in a competitive field.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a hairdresser and salon owner who truly loves every aspect of this industry. While I specialize in keratin treatments and custom color creations, I’m a full-service stylist and enjoy everything that comes with caring for hair. From precision cuts to transformations that help clients feel their best. I’m known for my consistency, attention to detail, and my ability to create personalized results that fit each client’s lifestyle.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the best things I ever did was stay open to learning and really pay attention to the people around me. My mentor was someone I worked with at my very first salon job as an assistant. I admired how professional and detail-oriented he was, and I made it a point to soak up everything I could. He took me under his wing, believed in me early on, and helped shape me into the stylist I was becoming. My advice is to show up, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
