Life & Work with Catia Dos Santos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catia Dos Santos. Them and their team share their story with us below:

SINGER-SONG WRITER- CEREMONIAL MUSICIAN- MEDICINE WOMAN

Since the very remote times of human civilization, music has been linked to the knowledge of nature and its cycles and rhythms, as well as to therapeutic and curative purposes.

“The man, who exercises himself in gymnastics, will gain strength and daring; if, however, he does not also occupy himself with music, he will be like the ferocious animal, which uses force and violence at all times. The muses gave man harmony music, so that it regulates the movements of the soul by it, and, with the help of rhythm, reforms the ungraceful and excessive manners.”-Plato.

Catia is a multi-lingual Medicine singer-songwriter, Medicine Woman, and musical visionary artist.

In 2019 she formed the group known today as Aliança Divina Medicine Music Collective. For the last four years, Aliança weaves a unique repertoire of original medicine songs with traditional and tribal ceremonial music. The lyrics of the songs conduct a journey to self and work as a guide to self-healing and self-love.

In 2019 “Aho” was released as the band’s first single; in 2020 birthed “Aliança Divina” single, the band anthem and in 2021 “Concerto Gaia” a full live album in celebration of New Year concert, live streamed to all music platforms.

We share chants and hymns from all over the world, songs that were crafted in our own hearts as well as songs that were channeled by others in the same genre, devotional ceremonial spiritual prayers.

Our music is an ode to the Great Spirit, a tribute to Mother Earth, and prayers to life itself. We are deeply inspired by native traditions and have been blessed to learn with and from various indigenous peoples and communities from several locations around the world. In fact, each member of Alianca has spent some time living and deepening musical and spiritual studies with different tribes of the Amazonian rainforest.

We are in constant tribute to all indigenous peoples of our world, for their ancestral cultures, their traditions and knowledge, and their eternal mission to protect the sacred balance of life and our forests.

It’s with inspiration in these tribal spiritual roots that Catia found a mission and purpose of using musical gifts as a pathway to faith, the sacred, the mystical, and magical.

When we gather in communion to celebrate life with music and dance, our souls vibrate with the love, harmony, and power of the sacred tunes that drive us to connection to different realms of consciousness where the inner wisdoms are waiting to be discovered.

Alianca Divina is a response to follow a deep calling to bridge the ancestral wisdoms into the real life, reigniting the wild and nature, the truth of Humankind. The recognition of our duty as people living in this mysterious life journey.

We believe in the intelligence and powers of Mother Nature as god, creator, and the coming of a new era. A sunrise in the story of humanity, and a time of blossoming for the Earth and all her children.

This is our prayer, the sacred world rising, sharing the hope that we will overcome the storm that is upon us, and unite again as one sacred Universal family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Event thought Medicine Music has existed for centuries, in our time, this music genre is experiencing a revival. I feel that some of our challenges as a music group has been to engage new audiences and spread the art. How to get our art visible and have more support for the Medicine Music Genre and its musicians.

We feel part of a current that is self-made and self-produced. Medicine Music is a powerful tool for the world and it’s our most intimate wish to connect to all people though these vibrations of love.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A Medicine Woman voices a deep yearning for a broader vision of what it means to be human than our current paradigm allows, it calls on an ancient archetype of healing. In the year of 2015 my journey of connection to spirit or my “spiritual awakening” started. I had always been a child of wild, a wonderer a dreamer, a believer, and following my soul calling I found my spiritual studies in the line of Shamanism.

As a child, I have always connected to music and dance in a special way. My intimate desire was to be a famous singer and performer. Today I found the purpose of my voice, as an instrument of service that when used with intention and purpose has the power to transform.

My soul’s calling is to live the ancestral ways, to go back to source and connect to the wisdoms that lay in every leaf, stone, and all kingdoms of Nature.

I traveled to Hawaii and Brazil to deepen myself discovery and received initiations from elders. teachers and tribal leaders.

Today I work as a facilitator of transformational & celebratory events, blessing ways, shamanic journeys, vocal activations, using music as a healing channel. My work is inspired in the sacred calendar The Medicine Wheel, the compass of the seasons and directions.

My passion is to serve as a speaker and storyteller of ancestral truths, tribal medicine, wisdoms, and my medicine is Mulher Arara, a vocal cantadora, a sister, a mother, a daughter, a woman.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is family and living a life with purpose. Family is the way to understand life to its full potential, nurturing conscient relationships, expanding the heart, the walk towards union and communion with respect for all that is life.

A life with purpose has behind the power drive of the soul. Walking life with a purpose, it’s important to fell alive that part of us that lingers for knowledge and sacredness.
