Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmencita Rosales Terán.
Hi Carmencita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up surrounded by storytelling — not through words at first, but through images. My family owned the Kodak company in Nicaragua, so capturing life’s special moments was part of our everyday rhythm. Everything truly was a Kodak moment. That early exposure to photography and visual storytelling shaped my creative lens and sparked my love for capturing emotion and meaning through media.
Later, my purpose became even clearer during one of the most difficult times in my life. When my sister Gabriela suffered a severe accident while studying in the U.S., I began creating “El Show de Carmencita” at her hospital bedside to lift her spirits. That small act of love became the spark that led me to my calling: to connect, uplift, and inspire others through storytelling.
I went on to study broadcast journalism and created “Tu Cita con Carmencita,” a platform that celebrates Latin fashion, beauty, and culture with authenticity and heart. What started as a personal mission has grown into a career that has taken me from hospital-room recordings to red carpets and Fashion Weeks across Latin America — including major events like the Latin GRAMMYs and Premio Lo Nuestro.
The road hasn’t been easy — it’s taken sacrifice, persistence, and vision — but every challenge has helped shape who I am as a communicator and storyteller. Today, I’m building my legacy as an international on-air talent, with the dream of soon appearing on major screens around the world. My greatest hope is to inspire others to believe in their dreams, embrace their stories, and use their voices to make a difference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many in the media and entertainment industry, I’ve faced my share of rejection — countless “no’s” that could have easily discouraged me. On top of that, I’ve also endured bullying and criticism, especially when I was just starting out and trying to find my voice.
There were moments where I questioned my path, but deep down I knew I had something to say and a purpose to fulfill. Every obstacle — whether it was a closed door or a harsh comment — pushed me to grow thicker skin, work harder, and stay rooted in my mission: to entertain, inspire, and uplift others through storytelling.
Looking back, I wouldn’t trade the tough moments, because they shaped the resilient woman and communicator I am today. Every setback became fuel for the next chapter — and I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a broadcast journalist, TV host, and on-air talent with a deep passion for storytelling, particularly when it comes to highlighting Latin culture, fashion, and entertainment. As the creator and host of “Tu Cita con Carmencita,” I celebrate the vibrancy of Latin American and U.S. creativity through interviews, red carpet coverage, and cultural segments. My goal is to connect with audiences in a way that’s both authentic and engaging, sharing the stories that matter most to me and my community.
What sets me apart is that my work is driven by purpose and authenticity. I don’t just report the news — I connect with people and bring their stories to life in a meaningful way. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of covering major events like the Latin GRAMMYs and Premio Lo Nuestro, and being invited to Fashion Weeks across Latin America and the U.S.
What I’m most proud of is being able to inspire others, especially young women, to believe in their dreams and trust in their voice. The journey has been challenging, but it has been incredibly rewarding to see how my work can resonate with others and make an impact.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is not just about accolades or recognition — it’s about making a meaningful impact and staying true to your purpose. It’s about using your platform to uplift others, share stories that matter, and inspire people to believe in themselves, no matter where they come from or what challenges they face. Success is knowing that what you do resonates with others and brings them closer to their dreams.
As a proud Nicaraguan, success also means honoring where I come from and carrying my culture with me in everything I do. My roots shape who I am, and I carry that pride with me into every interview, every red carpet, and every opportunity. For me, success is about representing my people and inspiring others to be proud of their own stories and heritage.
On a personal level, success is growth — constantly evolving as a person, a professional, and a storyteller. It’s about embracing the journey, learning from every experience, and always striving to be better than I was yesterday. Whether it’s through a red carpet interview or a personal connection with a viewer, success is knowing that I’ve made a positive difference, even in the smallest of ways.
