Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlotta Duque.
Hi Carlotta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by different sounds, stories, and cultures that shaped the way I see the world and eventually the way I write songs. I started creating music as a way to express emotions and experiences that I couldn’t always put into words, and over time that passion grew into a career path.
As an independent artist, I’ve spent the last few years developing my sound, blending tropical and Latin influences with modern pop. My goal has always been to create music that feels warm, honest, and nostalgic while still making people want to move. Every release has helped me grow, both as an artist and as a person, and taught me more about who I am creatively.
My latest project, El Alba, is my most personal work so far. It explores themes of love, growth, self-discovery, and new beginnings through stories inspired by real moments in my life. Right now, I’m focused on building a genuine connection with listeners and continuing to evolve as an artist. I’m still at the beginning of my journey, but I’m excited to keep sharing my music and seeing where it takes me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance the creative side of being an artist with everything that happens behind the scenes. As an independent artist, you’re not only making music you’re also building a brand, creating content, planning releases, and finding ways to connect with new audiences.
Another challenge has been learning to trust myself creatively. In the beginning, I spent a lot of time figuring out what kind of artist I wanted to be and what sound felt authentic to me. That process took patience, experimentation, and a willingness to grow.
At the same time, those challenges have helped shape who I am as an artist. Every release has taught me something new, and every obstacle has pushed me to become more confident in my voice and my vision. Looking back, I’m grateful for the journey because it has made the music much more meaningful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter creating pop music with tropical influences. Over the last few years, I’ve been focused on developing my sound and building a project that feels true to who I am.
What I’m most proud of is my debut EP, El Alba. It’s the first project where I felt like all the pieces came together—not just the music, but also the visuals, the storytelling, and the message behind it.
I think what sets me apart is the world I’m trying to create through my music. A lot of my songs are inspired by themes like new beginnings, summer, love, and nostalgia. There’s a sense of warmth and optimism that runs through everything I do. Whether someone speaks Spanish or not. . , I want them to hear my music and feel transported somewhere brighter.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to make music that makes people feel good and gives them something to come back to.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely. W. hile I’m the face of the project, none of .this would be possible without the incredible people who have helped bring my vision to life.
On the music side, I’ve been fortunate to work with an amazing team, including Came Beats, a multi-platinum producer with an extensive catalog, Jaymask, a multi-platinum producer and Latin Grammy winner, and Rick Gomez, whose experience and creativity have been invaluable throughout the process. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with songwriter Aleg, who has helped shape many of the ideas and stories behind the music.
Visually, JustMuv has played a huge role as an editor, helping create content that reflects the identity of the project while Fabian Medina has been instrumental behind the camera, bringing many of the visuals to life.
A big part of the aesthetic and creative direction has also been influenced by Verona Pena, Bárbara Barrios and Sofia Duque. Their ideas, creativity, and attention to detail have helped shape the visual world surrounding the music and have contributed greatly to how the project is presented.
Most importantly, I’m incredibly grateful to my parents and family for their constant support. They believed in me long before there was any reason to, encouraged me to pursue music, and have been there through every step of the journey. Having that foundation has made all the difference.
Building a music career is never a solo effort, and I feel very lucky to be surrounded by talented people who believe in the project and continue to help it grow.
