Today we’d like to introduce you to Bibi Miranda. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Cousins, busy moms, and entrepreneurs, Bibi and Laura Miranda founded Palma & Coco to bring you a curated selection of tropical kids wear from around the world.
With roots in both Miami, Florida, and San Jose, Costa Rica, Bibi and Laura both have a deep appreciation and love for travel, fashion, and of course their families. Always hunting for and sharing their unique finds with each other, the idea to make these extraordinary brands available to modern moms just like them bloomed, and Palma & Coco was born.
This exclusive online boutique is inspired by the bold colors found in nature and the world around us. We believe in distinctive and vibrant prints that reflect a child’s energy and personality and fabrics that are sturdy enough for play yet comfortable for all-day wear. Choose from a variety of coordinating sets for boys and girls as well as well as matching mommy-and-me pieces. Our collections have been carefully selected for children and moms to feel chic yet comfortable when at a pool party, resort, or lounging in their own backyard.
We currently carry: Boys and Girls Swimwear 6 months to 12 years.
Women’s body suits and wrap skirts.
*Men’s swimwear, Women’s swimwear, and children’s swimwear 12+ may be ordered upon request.
The designer of the Sylvia Santacruz Swimwear.
Sylvia, a mom of two girls, has been dedicated to the design and manufacturing of swimwear and dresses in Costa Rica for kids and women for more than 15 years. Her passion and love for fashion design led her to study at the European Institute of Design & Burgo Fashion Institute, in Milan, Italy. When she arrived back to Costa Rica, her affinity with fashion, the warmth of the beach, and her inspiration in Costa Rican nature and beauty steered her to design her unique, vibrant, and colorful collection of swim and beachwear, 100% handmade in Costa Rica.
Sustainable fashion is as important as the textiles and designs themselves. In an effort to reduce waste, Sylvia uses the scraps from her designs to make coordinating hair accessories (complimentary with each girl’s swimsuit), doll swimsuits, and doll skirts. With this small initiative Sylvia reduces waste and adds the finishing touch to her collections.
Sylvia’s designs are sold exclusively in the U.S. at Palma & Coco
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As soon as we introduced the brand to the South Miami market it was very well-liked, the people loved the fun unique prints and styles and the mommy and me options. The struggles we have had is to get the brand known outside south Miami, we would love to be known in all South Florida and of course all the United States.
Apart from that, balancing mom life and starting a business is always hard but we have learned to juggle and work our best when the kids are in school and then juggle around their schedules.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart from others is out unique styles and fun prints with all the matching resort wear. Kids can be chic and stylish without breaking the bank. Our pieces are not only affordable but also “green”.
The designer we work with uses all the swimsuit and fabric scraps to create hairpieces (free with every swimsuit) and doll swimwear and skirts in an effort to utilize the fabrics and create the least waste possible.
Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
