Today we’d like to introduce you to Annabelle Urrea-Guzman & Victor Hugo Guzman.
Hi Annabelle & Victor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2024, Victor and I reached a point where we knew we were ready to build something else together. We had worked hard, saved intentionally, and felt it was time to invest in a business of our own. The only challenge? We didn’t know what that business would be.
We explored different opportunities…we were even in conversations with an organic sugaring franchise and moving pretty seriously in that direction. But deep down, nothing felt completely aligned.
Then one night, Arianna came home holding a mug and said, “Mom! Look what I did with Adri!”…Adri is her bestie…she was so proud. “I painted it myself! Isn’t it cute?” I asked her where she made it, and she said, “At Color Me Mine.” And in that exact moment — it clicked. I looked at Victor and said, “That’s the business we’re going to invest in.” He wasn’t fully convinced at first, so I took him to experience a local pottery painting studio himself. Once he saw the atmosphere — the creativity, the connection, the families, the joy — he understood it immediately. He was sold.
And here we are now in 2026, just a little over two months into owning our studio, and absolutely in love with what we’ve built.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I don’t believe any path towards your goals is ever completely smooth…but it has been a beautiful one. A journey of discovery, growth, commitment and learning our true value. There were plenty of bumps. But we faced them and conquered them together as a team. Victor, Arianna and I put our heart and soul into this project and we made it happen!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
ANNABELLE: I currently serve as the West Dade Governmental & Community Liaison for Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. I joined her team in 2024, and it has truly been an honor to represent her and serve alongside such a dedicated administration.
My professional background is in local radio sales, a career I began in 2006 and continued through 2023. I started as an account executive within the Hispanic market and grew into leadership roles, managing several local Hispanic radio station sales teams.
Before joining the Mayor’s Office, I always carried a dream in my heart to own something of my own. I didn’t know exactly what it would be but I knew entrepreneurship was in my future. Shortly after joining the Mayor’s team, the opportunity to become a Color Me Mine franchise owner presented itself, and we embraced it.
Today, I am proud to balance public service with business ownership. Working in the Mayor’s Office has been deeply fulfilling…supporting our community, responding to residents’ needs, and collaborating with local municipalities as her liaison. At the same time, building a creative space through my studio has allowed me to serve the community in a different, but equally meaningful way.
VICTOR:
I currently serve as Director of Local & National Sales Development at MediaCo. My career has always centered on building partnerships and creating solutions that generate measurable business results. In parallel, I’m also a franchise owner, which reflects my long-standing entrepreneurial mindset. I specialize in multicultural media, integrated advertising strategies, and business development.
While I’m proud of my professional journey and the longevity of my career, what matters most to me is my family. They are the foundation behind everything I’ve built and the motivation behind my decisions. Family has shaped my work ethic, resilience, and perspective on success. It also played a major role in my decision to invest in a Color Me Mine franchise, a business that aligns with creativity, connection, and shared experiences. For me, success has never been defined solely by career milestones, but by building something meaningful both professionally and personally.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Resilience…and honestly, a strong marriage. Like we’ve shared, the journey hasn’t been without bumps, and we still face challenges, but Victor and I truly operate as a team. Bringing this project to life while we both juggle full-time careers has actually made us stronger, both personally and professionally.
Arianna is one of our greatest strengths. Having Arianna, our youngest, running the studio has been an absolute game changer for us. She’s our trusted Studio Director, which allows us to step back during the week knowing everything is in great hands. We’re incredibly proud of the leadership, responsibility, and passion she brings every day. Watching her grow into this role has been one of the most rewarding parts of the entire journey. Especially as her mom!
We’ve also been very fortunate with our Art Techs (our studio team). Finding hardworking, caring employees who truly connect with your vision isn’t always easy, and we genuinely feel blessed with the team Arianna has built. They bring heart, creativity, and dedication to the studio every day, and that makes all the difference. You’ll see them in one of the pictures shared for this interview: Valeria, Victoria, Viviana, and our very own Arianna.
On top of that, we’ve built a strong support network with fellow Color Me Mine franchise owners we met during training. Since many of us opened around the same time, we’ve created a beautiful support system: sharing advice, challenges, and wins together. But one of our biggest strengths, which they often mention, is having someone like Arianna leading our studio with such dedication and care.
At the end of the day, resilience, teamwork, family support, and community have all played a huge role in our success
