Life & Work with Alyssa Severino of Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Severino.

Hi Alyssa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I originally went to cosmetology school because I loved makeup, but once I started assisting in a salon, I quickly fell in love with the creativity and energy of the hair industry. I began my career right after high school, moving from West Virginia to Pennsylvania for school. After three years behind the chair building my skills, I took a leap and moved to Florida. I’ve now been doing hair for five years and still love the connections I build with my clients and helping them truly love their hair.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve moved states twice and had to rebuild my clientele in places where I didn’t know anyone, even after being fully booked in Pennsylvania. Starting over was intimidating, but I knew staying comfortable wouldn’t allow me to reach my full potential. Moving to Florida pushed me to grow both personally and professionally, and I’m still learning every day. Each challenge has helped shape me into the stylist I am today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in lived-in blonding, dimensional brunettes, and extensions, focusing on creating hair that looks effortless and grows out beautifully. I’m known for my attention to detail and taking the time to truly understand what my clients want so their hair fits their lifestyle. What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients. I genuinely care about how they feel when they leave my chair. I think my passion for my work and the connections I create with my clients are what really set me apart.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been really fortunate to work for salon owners who gave me the space to grow into my own as a hairstylist while still learning from experienced professionals. They trusted me and pushed me into situations outside of my comfort zone, which helped build my confidence and independence behind the chair. My family has also played a huge role by supporting me through big moves and life changes along the way. Most of all, my clients deserve so much credit, their trust and loyalty mean everything to me, and they’re truly the reason I get to do what I love every day.
