Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Schmidt.
Hi Alyssa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in the Edmonton area, Alyssa’s journey into health and wellness was shaped through both personal experience and her work supporting others through some of life’s most difficult challenges. Before founding 4 Points Health and Wellness, Alyssa worked in intensive trauma treatment homes for children, where she witnessed firsthand the lasting effects of stress, trauma, disconnection, and the gaps that often exist within traditional healthcare systems.
Those experiences became the foundation for her vision: creating a space where healthcare felt more connected, collaborative, preventative, and human. Alyssa believed people deserved access to care that looked beyond symptoms alone and focused on the whole person—physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
With that vision, she founded 4 Points Health and Wellness, building the clinic from the ground up with a strong emphasis on community, interdisciplinary care, and meaningful relationships. What began as a small local clinic has grown into a multidisciplinary wellness hub focused on helping individuals and families create sustainable, long-term health through movement, rehabilitation, mental health support, education, and preventative care.
Alyssa has always been passionate about creating environments where both clients and practitioners feel connected and supported. Her approach emphasizes synchronous teamwork between professionals, ensuring clients receive care that is integrated rather than fragmented. Through the years, 4 Points has continued to evolve beyond a traditional clinic model, becoming deeply involved in community wellness initiatives, outreach programs, and collaborative projects that support physical, mental, and social well-being.
Like many small business owners, Alyssa faced significant challenges along the way—including clinic moves, floods, the uncertainty of the pandemic, and the realities of growing a community-centered business. Through each challenge, the support of the surrounding community reinforced the purpose behind the work and strengthened the mission of 4 Points.
Today, Alyssa continues to advocate for a more preventative and relationship-based approach to healthcare. Whether supporting families, first responders, individuals navigating trauma, or those simply looking to improve their quality of life, her focus remains the same: helping people feel seen, empowered, and connected in their health journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building 4 Points Health and Wellness has been one of the most rewarding experiences of Alyssa’s life, but also one of the hardest. Behind the growth of the clinic were years of challenges that tested resilience both personally and professionally.
“It definitely has not been a smooth road,” “People often see the growth or the finished product, but they don’t always see what it took to get there.”
Over the years, Alyssa navigated personal losses of loved ones while simultaneously carrying the pressures of entrepreneurship and leadership. The business faced major obstacles including floods, difficult business relationship breakdowns, legal battles, operational growing pains, and the uncertainty that came with surviving the pandemic as a healthcare business rooted in community connection.
Each challenge forced difficult conversations, hard decisions, and moments of reevaluating how the business operated. Through those experiences came lessons in leadership, communication, boundaries, systems, and sustainability.
“A lot of the hardest moments ended up teaching me the most,” “Every setback forced us to improve our operating procedures, strengthen our foundation, and become more intentional about how we lead, grow, and protect the culture of the business.”
Rather than allowing adversity to define the future of 4 Points, Alyssa used those experiences to refine the organization and continue moving forward. She believes the struggles ultimately shaped a stronger business and a stronger sense of purpose.
“Entrepreneurship can be incredibly rewarding, but it also requires resilience, adaptability, and the ability to keep moving forward when things feel uncertain. I’ve learned that growth often comes from the moments you would never choose to go through.”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I founded 4 Points Health and Wellness with the goal of creating a more connected and preventative approach to healthcare—one that brings together physical health, mental health, movement, rehabilitation, and community support under one roof. Over the years, my role has evolved into leadership, business development, program creation, and helping build collaborative systems where practitioners can work together in a more synchronized and intentional way.
A large part of my work focuses on creating environments where people feel genuinely supported, understood, and empowered in their health journey. I’ve always been passionate about bridging gaps between disciplines and helping healthcare feel less fragmented and more human. That includes building programs that support families, first responders, youth, individuals navigating trauma, and people simply looking to improve their overall quality of life.
One of the areas I’m most passionate about is preventative health and creating systems that address the root causes of stress, burnout, injury, and disconnection before they become larger issues. My background working in intensive trauma treatment homes for children deeply shaped how I approach wellness, leadership, and community care today.
What I’m most proud of is the culture and community that has been built through 4 Points. It’s not just a clinic—it has become a place where practitioners collaborate, clients build lasting relationships, and people feel safe showing up exactly as they are. Watching the impact that has had on individuals, families, and the broader community has been incredibly meaningful.
I’m also proud of the resilience behind the business. There were many moments where it would have been easier to stop, especially through personal loss, operational challenges, floods, legal battles, and the pandemic. But continuing to move forward through those experiences helped shape stronger systems, stronger leadership, and a clearer sense of purpose.
What sets me apart is that I’ve never viewed healthcare as just treatment-based. I believe wellness is deeply connected to relationships, environment, movement, education, and community. I care deeply about creating spaces where collaboration is prioritized over ego, where people feel seen beyond their symptoms, and where healthcare professionals can work together in a way that creates more meaningful and lasting outcomes.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Playing outside with all my cousins and best friends. There were less worries in the world. Just had to be home by dark.
