Life & Work with Alan Upshur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Upshur. 

Hi Alan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Baltimore, Maryland where I started my real estate career in 2016 as a buyer’s agents where I made a name for myself working with homeowners and a lot of investors. I’ve stayed consistent being full-time since I started my career earning my mortgage license and title insurance producers license along the way. I had a brief stay earlier this year in Buckhead -Atlanta, Georgia where I’ve met some great real estate professionals and for the first time got an opportunity to venture out of my hometown to live and gain a different perspective on how the real industry operates. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has by far not been a smooth road lol. As the market shifts every couple year, I’ve learned different aspects as well as gained more mentors along the way of the journey. When the entrepreneurial journey gets tough one of the best ways to counter the bumps along the way has always been by obtaining more education for me. When the market shifted and I needed to hone my skills as a listing agent I doubled down on investor meetings because I knew my investors would be sticking with me to be their listing agent. I also took a lot of advice from listing agents who were more experienced than me. In also started to refer my sellers to them and focus on generating more referrals as leverage to keep more of my time yet keep quality service. I have also went to therapy to help with a lot of emotional anxiety from career which helped tremendously in my work/life balance. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m primarily doing business as a real estate closing agent for The Closers Title insurance agency and business development for Grimaldi Law Firm. It is my job to bring in business and educate real estate professionals on the closing process along with understanding the importance of estate planning for our families. I refer my business to my strategic partners throughout the United States for real estate, mortgages, and life insurance as passive income and exposure. I have been involved in the closings of hundreds of transactions but I think I’m most proud of actually making it to do what I love in a state I always wanted to be in. For years I dreamed of moving to Florida at my lowest points of life. What sets me apart is my relentlessness. When my mind is made up it’s made up. I will not quit. I’m a soldier you definitely want to have on your team. 

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Playing sonic the hedgehog with my mom and dad will always be one of my favorites.
