Life and Work with Norma Castro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Castro.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Norma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey as a wardrobe stylist/personal stylist began ten years ago… after being married for ten years and going through a divorce, I decided I needed a change in my life, so I left my life as an Office Manager for an orthopedic surgeon and decided I needed to simplify my life and became an office manager at a Luxury Real estate office. At that time, I gained the trust of my broker/boss and she would ask me to assist with clients and personal errands. One was for a very wealthy older Jewish developer that had 20 kids and grandkids and needed Hanukkah gifts, his assistant was ill and was unable to handle. He gave me a list of interests and a quick rundown of each person and 20 k to buy gifts. I have allows loved shopping and fashion, especially when it isn’t your money! From that point, I started managing and assisting with music labels which needed to do photoshoots for clients and artists usually 75% men and the word got out and year after year my name began to spread within the hip-hop world. Anyone in Miami doing a shoot or video knew I was the TO GO Girl for all the high-end exclusive. I have worked with all luxury brands and have been able to grow relationships to be able to have “consignment accounts” in almost every Luxury brand boutique in south Florida from Gucci, Givenchy, Margiela Tom Ford and, etc. Last year and a half, I have really grown in the Latin world which has allowed me to travel with clients on red carpets and exclusive events!

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not smooth, with any business it has had up and downs! nothing is perfect. Everything is relationships and I have been blessed to keep those very good… Miami and the fashion world/retail world are small so never burn bridges! be consistent be true I never can lie to a client if I don’t like something however much it is I can’t tell them I like it! Take pride in your work… this is not a 9-5 job this is a 24/7, no holidays either!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NC Styles – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as and what sets you apart from others.
I pour myself into every client and brand… I get to know the client and their brand learns their style and what fits them and that takes one on one!

Fashion + Music is my passion so I get to know my clients and their music to understand them as their brand! When hired for a video, I work on set making sure lighting and client look good on camera to listen to the song prior to see if any brands are mentioned and incorporate that! Make sure no artist with the genre has worn the clothes!

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Working with Men Artists there is a level of respect and dignity I always compose. As well as my team or anyone around me. You lead by example!
