Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shereena Delgado of White Plains

We recently had the chance to connect with Shereena Delgado and have shared our conversation below.

Shereena, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Would I hire me? Absolutely. I bring a rare combination of creativity, strategy, and execution. I don’t just have ideas I MAKE THEM HAPPEN. I’ve built multiple brands from the ground up, collaborated with major industry players, and consistently found ways to grow, adapt, and lead, even in high pressure situations.

But beyond the resume & experience I bring heart. I’m purpose driven!! I understand people. I know how to read a room, move with integrity, and make those around me feel seen and valued. That’s why people trust me with their brands their stages, & their platforms.

Would I hire me? Without a doubt. Because I know I’m not just a good investment I’m a game changer.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Shereena Delgado I’m an international model, creative strategist, and founder of 3 purpose driven brands that reflect different parts of who I am and what I stand for.

First, there’s Off Key But Lit with Shereena—a community event that brings people together through music, laughter, and vibes. ITS MORE THAN JUST KARAOKE; it’s a space where talent is discovered, confidence is built, and everyone off key or not is celebrated. We host monthly events that feel like family reunions with a mic, and we’re now expanding into new cities, themes, and even other events and artist showcases.

Then there’s Straight Walk Runway (SWR) my model development agency focused on identity, healing, and high fashion industry training. After walking in over 300 runway shows internationally, I created SWR to help models get seen, signed, and paid with or without an agent. We’re currently building out online courses, quarterly workshops, and a private community for models to grow with confidence and purpose.

Lastly, I run Shereena Delgado Media (SDM), a creative agency that helps brands show up and show out online. From social media marketing and branding to content creation and strategy, we help businesses especially faith led entrepreneurs build and grow with clarity and creativity.

Each brand is different, but they’re all rooted in community, confidence, and creativity. I’m passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to do what they were called to do.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was fearless, curious, and full of light. I was a little girl with big dreams, a loud voice, and a soft heart. I didn’t know about survival mode yet I just knew I wanted to create, to help people, to be seen, and to love hard. The world tried to dim that, tried to make me smaller, quieter, more “realistic.” But deep down, I’ve always been her the one who knew there was more even when life tried to convince me otherwise. And now I’m just doing the work to return to her fully. Every move I make is for her.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience, surrender, and identity in a way success never could. It showed me who I was when the lights were off, when nobody was clapping, when I had to choose healing over hiding. It humbled me. It made me lean into God, not just gifts. Success can make you feel like you’re in control but suffering reminded me that purpose comes from the pain too. It built my character, not just my brand.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One truth that’s foundational for me is that God never wastes anything!! Not the pain, not the process, not even the parts I didn’t understand at the time.

I also deeply believe that loyalty is everything. Not the performative kind but that solid, behind the scenes “I got you even when no one’s watching” type of loyalty. It’s how I love, how I lead, and how I expect people to show up around me.

And I don’t always say it, but I move like someone who knows I’m chosen, not just talented. That keeps me grounded, even when things get loud, fake, or uncertain.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will misunderstand my legacy by seeing just the surface the modeling, the events, the brands and not realizing it’s really about healing and purpose. They might think it’s just about the glam or the hustle, but it’s way deeper. My legacy isn’t about being perfect or always having it together; it’s about showing up raw, owning your story, and using your pain as power. That’s the real work behind everything I do, and I don’t think everyone will see that right away. But that’s okay those who need it will.
