We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shanti E. Ferrandis. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Shanti E., thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I usually wake up around 6:30 am and start my day with about an hour of meditation. After that, I practice breath of fire exercises, then I listen to a podcast or an audiobook. I enjoy a mindful breakfast before teaching my morning class.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shanti, and I am a yoga and meditation teacher with a holistic approach to well-being. For more than five years, I’ve been guiding women to reconnect with themselves through practices like yoga, breathwork, Reiki, sound healing, and mindful living. What makes my work unique is the way I combine traditional practices with modern tools, creating safe and accessible experiences that empower people not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. My brand is rooted in connection, presence, and transformation. Right now, I’m working on expanding my offerings both in-person and online, from community classes to personalized holistic sessions, so that more people can integrate these practices into their daily lives.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I first stood in front of a group to guide a yoga class. I remember realizing that my presence, my words, and my energy could create a space of calm and strength for others. It wasn’t about control, but about connection—seeing people breathe together, soften, and open up made me feel that I had something meaningful to share. That moment gave me a deep sense of purpose and inner power.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: never lose that beautiful freedom you had to express yourself without fear of judgment. Stay true to your unique style and your authentic way of being, because that is your greatest strength
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the wellness industry is that yoga and holistic practices are only for the flexible, the young, or those who already live a ‘perfectly balanced’ lifestyle. This mindset creates unnecessary barriers and makes people feel like they don’t belong, when in reality these practices are meant for every body and every stage of life. Another misconception is that props or modifications mean you’re doing ‘less’, when in fact, they are powerful tools that make the practice safer and more accessible. True yoga isn’t about performance; it’s about connection, presence, and self-discovery.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
I know I’m out of my depth when I feel my energy shifting from calm and centered to scattered or overwhelmed. In those moments, I notice I’m pushing instead of flowing, and my body usually gives me signals like tension, shallow breathing, or fatigue. That’s when I pause, step back, and remind myself it’s okay to ask for support or take a break. For me, recognizing those signs is not a weakness but a way of staying grounded and honest with myself.
