Good morning Sebastien , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day right now for me consist of taking my son to school in the morning and then heading to the barbershop to open.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sebastien Thevenin and I am the owner of Sebastien’s Barbershop and Grooming Lounge. We are the Most Unique Barbershop in Kendall, Florida. We offer exceptional customer service, great vibes, complimentary drinks and fresh hair cuts. It doesn’t stop there, we also offer facials, manicures and pedicures so that every customer can feel like a king. We have been open for four years now and are currently in the process of expanding internationally.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was just a kid trying to find my path and figure out what to do with life.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, being a small business owner there are a lot of times where that thought of giving up comes around an so I have had that thought a few times but reminding yourself that determination and hard work brings success. There will always be tough times but getting to the light at the end of the tunnel is always possible if you want it enough and fit for it.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies this industry tells itself is that you can get rich quick and that it’s easy money. That is nothing further from the truth! It’s not just the cut but the customer experience that matters the most. The haircut could be amazing but if the customer doesn’t feel comfortable or get that personalize experience, he can find another barber.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will remember how caring and helpful I was to everyone. I always want to succeed and bring everyone around me up with me!
