Robin Louis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Robin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
This is a great question to start this off. I truly have to say my music career. I’ve had this vision since I was 14 years old. A vision, a dream that for some was something impossible. But to me, it was one hundred percent real. Fast forward to the present day, I’m almost at 44 years on this planet in October, and this dream has become my reality. Only through hard work, dedication, extreme focus & great faith. Take away the i and the m, in impossible and you have…possible.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’am Robin Louis. Cuban, American dj, producer, songwriter, artist from Miami signed to Pitbull’s Mr. 305 Inc Records since 2022. Having started with Pitbull before the fame as his first Dj, back in 2001-02. I feel my story can be inspirational for anyone chasing their dreams, their vision of a better way. I knew for me it was always music. Born in Camaguey Cuba in 1981, arriving in the United States of America on January 11th 1991. My father, a great pediatrician, let me know then that here in America I was able to dream, have goals and achieve anything I put my mind to. Having left a communist country, where there is no freedom of nothing much less artistic expression. This opportunity to dream? Priceless, and most importantly, possible.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I can honestly tell you that I’ve never taken instructions from the world on how to be me. Never, ever, ever, not once. Why’s that? It’s simple. I’ve always known who I’am because God, my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ who lives in my heart, in my spirit, in my soul has been guiding the way since Day 1. Therefore, He is the only one who tells me who and how to be. He is the only one I listen to. He guides my way but the world,. the world will deceive you. Search within…
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Failure is a great teacher. You have to shift your mindset after failure if not you’re simply put stuck. So, failure gives you the opportunity to reflect and correct. You change your mind on many things. For example, I’ve changed my mind on strategy many times. Figuring out how to move forward and make the best of a failed situation or opportunity is key. Can’t let it define you. Remember it’s not how you fall but how you get back up that counts. Keep going…
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
One hundred percent Jack. They say fake it till’ you make it or something like that but I’ve never agreed with that saying to be honest with you. With me, what you see is what you get. Whether in good or bad times. I’am always Robin Louis.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
This is simple. You will one thousand percent regret not chasing your dreams, not following your vision. Because you either quit or keep going. Either way, they both hurt G!
