We recently had the chance to connect with Rebecca Edelson and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Traveling is like, the ultimate time warp, and I feel so free. You’re in a new place, vibin’ with different cultures, meetin’ new peeps… next thing you know, days have passed and you’re like “wait, what day is it again?”
And findin’ yourself? That’s like the ultimate bonus! Travelin’ forces you outta your comfort zone, makes you try new things, you meet so many people and travel pushes you to grow. You’re like, “Wow, I did what?! It’s like hittin’ reset on life, and when you come back, you’re refreshed, renewed, and realize how important it is to go an experience!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Recently, I had a couple of transformative experiences at an Ashram in the Bahamas, which helped me gain clarity on what breaks bonds between people. Author and Professor Fred Luskin was the speaker on mindfulness; he wrote the book “Forgive for Good,” a great resource for exploring forgiveness. My takeaway is that communication, expectations, and forgiveness are key in relationships. When we let go of unrealistic expectations and practice forgiveness, we can start to break down the barriers that keep us apart. It’s all about finding that balance between understanding complex issues and not sweating the small stuff – but it takes a ton of practice.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re doing the Great! Trust yourself, take risks, and don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way – your passions and creativity will guide you to amazing places.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
People like Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley or Jane Goodall for their incredible character, resilience, and dedication to making a positive impact in the world. They’re truly inspiring figures who demonstrate remarkable strength and compassion. Unity in their eyes was a foundation for humanity and their visions still hold true today! .
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Ashrams can be such transformative spaces for introspection and growth. The combination of healthy habits, mindfulness practices, and quiet contemplation can really help you tune into your inner self. My time doing yoga, journaling, reading and taking silent walks is when I feel most at peace, peace, peace!
