Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Mitchell Ball of Hollywood Beach, Florida

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mitchell Ball. Check out our conversation below.

Mitchell, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What battle are you avoiding?
March 15, i developed plantar fasciitis and then it became severe back pain and sciatica. This eventually became 3 herniated discs in my back. With a chiropractor help after 3 months my back is improving and pain becoming less. About 8 years ago i developed sciatic on the left side and fast forward to present; i have sciatica on the right side.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Lets start this story back in 2017 when I initially hurt my back due to a work related injury. I was picking up an oxygen concentrator and developed sciatica and a left drop foot. I was a very good player of Pickleball and now with sciatica; its impossible to play well.

So after neck and back surgery to fix the sciatica i was not able to play Pickleball and or Tennis anymore or I cant play to the best of my ability.

Fast forward to June 30, 2023; I was part of another group of Paddling and parted ways. I decided to form a new group of Paddlers. Laurie Lancaster and Michelle Ahnell helped me come up with the name of the group. After 3 or 4 days we came up with name “All About Paddling” was born. Its a kayak and a paddle board group.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust. If you can trust the people you are with; you feel empowered!!!

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
With having many medical conditions; I make my disabilities become my motivation to do better and work harder.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My GF Barbara Fox and My Dad Stanley Ball. These two people are the most important people in my life. They both give me guidance and hope.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I believe I will live a very long time. I want people to realize that I brought Pickleball to South Florida and now I am Administrator of All About Paddling. Karma is very important; what you put out will eventually come back. So the more good you put out the more good will come back.
