Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Magda Colodetti of Brickell

Magda Colodetti shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Magda, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, traveling has been bringing me a lot of joy. Whether it’s attending a lighting fair or discovering a new city, I love exploring different cultures and seeing lighting projects around the world. It’s inspiring to experience how light shapes spaces in other contexts.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Magda Penha Colodetti: Illuminating Spaces with Purpose and Poetry

I’m Magda Penha Colodetti, an architect and lighting designer with over 30 years of experience bringing spaces to life through light. While my background is in architecture, lighting has always been where my passion truly shines—how it reveals texture, sets mood, and turns architecture into atmosphere.

I founded EOS Lighting & Design, a studio focused on creating thoughtful, elegant lighting solutions, with a special emphasis on interior lighting design. Our work ranges from private homes to hospitality and high-end residential projects across the United States. What makes our approach unique is the way we balance technical expertise with an artistic sensibility—treating light not just as illumination, but as a design material.

One of the projects I’m most excited about right now is a residence for an art collector with a remarkable collection. Designing the lighting for this apartment has been like curating a private version of Art Basel—each piece deserves its own moment, its own glow, its own story told through light.

At EOS, we believe lighting should be quiet yet powerful, invisible yet unforgettable. It’s not just about making a space look beautiful—it’s about making it feel alive.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I traveled to India. It was there that I truly realized the deep contrast between Eastern and Western cultures. The Eastern world felt much more connected to spirituality, while the Western world tends to focus more on the material. That experience made me envision how powerful it would be if we could bring the best of both worlds together—finding balance between the spiritual and the material in our lives.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Believe that your dreams will come true. As a child, I had many dreams that felt out of reach, but with dedication and hard work, I made them happen. Trust in your journey—you’re more capable than you know.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m deeply committed to—no matter how long it takes—is delivering the best possible outcome for every project I take on. I go to great lengths for my clients because I genuinely care about the result. I don’t give up or cut corners, even when revisions require extra effort. For me, the satisfaction lies in achieving a level of excellence that I can be proud of. In the end, I’m not just working for others—I’m working for myself and my standard of quality.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I wouldn’t change anything, because I already live in the present and make choices based on what brings me joy and purpose. We never know how much time we have, so I’ve always tried to live with intention—doing what I love and what feels meaningful to me. That’s why there’s nothing I’d stop or regret.
