Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Khani Forbes

We recently had the chance to connect with Khani Forbes and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Khani , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My First 90 minutes of day off around 4:00am Exercising, running atleast ten times around community Playfield, Checking my Emails and preparing my self according to my Work Schedule.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello Good Day! My name is Khani Lloyd Forbes also known as StormKhani the Artist, I’m the Owner of my Music Label Company World A Music Records where we Produced, Promote and release News updates as a Media Company on Dancehall/Reggae Music Topics in Jamaica. I’m also a Dancehall/Reggae Artist who goes by name Storm Khani from South Side, Top Hill, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica and I’m also a Designer of my Clothing Brands, Merch, Graphics and Animation Characters.
We are working on our new Production of Dancehall singles that are scheduled to be released next year 2026, starting off with our new single “Collect”- By Storm Khani and produced by Team.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The Moment that really shaped how I see the World is when I’m around 3 years old attending infant school, students use to call me name like “Your an Artist”, “You Can’t Trick us” and I use get upset because ignorance. So I decided to do some investigation on “Who Am I” from my parents about my name and heritage, by the following week I started to embrace my hidden talents that they saw. So l started to participated in Singing, Plays, Concerts, Sports Showcasing my true potentials that was hidden.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds that changes my life was when I was 5 years old I got my little finger choped off by the door playing with my older siblings which I never used to do because they are immature. After the incident the finger had grown back and I started to take my life very seriously by developing my talents such as singing, playing of instruments, writing songs, Designing Clothing Brands, Graphic design s, Mastering Sports such as Track and Field, Football, Cricket and learning survival skills such as Mechanic, Farming, Carpenter, How Operate in my Grandfather Shop.
I healed my wounds by just associated myself with people who has true intentions, purpose of the same path of life and staying focused on my mission.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The Cultural Values that I uphold and protect are Good Principles, Work Ethics, Discipline, Identity, Dedication and don’t be afraid to Dream Big.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
