Janira Lima Rivera shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Janira, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
A recent trip with my husband reminded me how much joy we share. The little moments of connection with my closest friends means a lot for me.
I felt proud and grateful for the family we’re building together. Also, I felt proud when I stepped out of my comfort zone.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Janira, a textile artist inspired by the landscapes and rhythms of nature.
My work weaves textures, colors, and stories into pieces that invite people to feel grounded and connected.
Tuly Studios began in 2020 during the pandemic, when I started working with macramé knots and exploring natural dyes on sustainable raw cotton. What began as a way to create with my hands has grown into a practice deeply connected to nature and storytelling.
Today, my inspiration comes from traveling, discovering new landscapes, colors, and traditions. Each piece of my art reflects the textures of nature and the richness of different cultures, making it both personal and continuously evolving.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was simply myself: curious, creative, and open to exploring the world on my own terms.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Some of the defining wounds in my life have been moments of self-doubt and feeling disconnected from my own path. I’ve worked through them with the support of my psychologist, close friends, and my husband, who have helped me reflect, feel seen, and trust myself again. Through their guidance and love, I’ve learned to heal, embrace my growth, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire those who act with empathy, kindness and integrity, quietly making a difference in the lives of others rather than seeking power or status.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Peace comes to me when I’m present, when I spend time with my dog and two cats, watching the sunset, traveling with my husband or working with my hands on a new piece. Those moments remind me of what truly matters.
