Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Isaac Saiz

Isaac Saiz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Isaac, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I have been in the fitness profession my whole career. I have heard it all. Not a real job, can’t make a respectable living, anyone can be a trainer, ect. All of which can be true if you treat the profession with disrespect. Like any business, you have to have a plan or in my case, be obsessive to prove others wrong, more importantly, prove myself right. Today, I’m able to live comfortable life and set my schedule to be a present father.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Isaac Saiz. I started Saiz Athletics, a personal training company, 15 years ago. The vibe his is non judgmentaland welcoming anyone who whats to take their fitness and lives to the next level .We do a combination of strength training and boxing to mix things up. I have seen consistent results in my clients, both body and mind. We have perfected program over the years. In past years, we have been working with professional athletes and celebrities. The energy in over the top. We are currently working on taking our business online and working on a program working with special populations, specifically individuals who have parkinson’s.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I have always been me. I refused to fall into the trap of being told who I had to be. I have a good moral compass. I know why I’m here. That is one advantage of being stubborn. I draw hard lines as far as how I live my life and don’t back down when the pressure is on. Under pressure, you really find out who you are and what you stand for. As the saying goes, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
At 43 years old, I have had many bumps and bruises living life. The death of my father was definitely a gaping wound in my life. I was fortunate enough to be there for his last breaths. I have always wondered what he was thinking knowing the end was near. I don’t think one can heal from an experience like that, you just learn how to deal with it better. I suppose the healing process is appreciating your time here on earth. Life is a gift and what you do with your time and energy here is your gift back. I feel my life has purpose and meaning, that becomes very clear when you lose someone you love. One day we will all talk our last breath, I want to know my time here meant something.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The health and wellness space has grown over the past few years, with a size of over 6 trillion globally. That tell you everyone wants to feel and look their best at any age. The industry is set up to sell you a lot of products and services you don’t necessarily need. I’d argue the majority of your health and wellness issues can be solved with a consistent healthy lifestyle that includes proper hydration, no smoking or alcohol, rest, nutrition, nature, stress management, daily movement and resistance training. It’s a lifestyle. Rinse and repeat the rest of your life.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I have lived in three different states in my life. I was born and raised in California. I grew up working on my grandfathers ranch. As a kid, I would wonder off in the mountains and sit, listening to nature. While going to school in Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon was my place of peace. Now here in Miami, I go to my condo in the Florida Keys. Nature and quite allows me to reflect and recharge.
