Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Gabriela Perez Siman of Coral Gables

Gabriela Perez Siman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Gabriela , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, a normal day for me includes getting my toddlers ready for summer camp, heading to my office to see patients while fitting in networking, marketing, and media projects, possibly seeing some hospital patients, picking up my toddlers, and spending the evening with them until bedtime. As someone that is big on exercise being imperative for physical as well as brain health – I try to make it to the gym a couple of times a week when I can!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dr. Gabriela Perez Siman (known by most as Dr. Perez) and I am a board certified general neurologist with a private practice in Coral Gables, FL. My goal is to provide convenient, comprehensive, expert care in a boutique setting. We are a woman-owned, Latina-owned small business here in Coral Gables and we provide neurological diagnostic testing, acute pain procedures, headache procedures, and even weight optimization management right here in our office. I am currently working on scaling the practice so that we can serve more of the community! We want our patients to feel at home and like they are important to us, not just another number in a clinic.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child, I held a belief that successful people had something special that only the elite possessed. I thought that having success as a Doctor or as a business owner was totally intangible. Of course, now, I know that success is something that is earned by those that go for it. The main thing that sets successful individuals apart from those that are stuck is taking action, consistently, relentlessly, and despite any setbacks. We just keep going no matter what. I now know that I can truly do anything I put my mind to.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve had many times that I have almost given up. Things that are worthwhile are difficult, and moments of doubt will always be part of the journey. It’s about staying grounded and firm in your “why.”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh, yes. There is no ounce of me that wants to pretend to be someone that I am not. I also firmly believe that people want to know who they are going to work with, and if you are a good fit. Time and time again, I have learned – it is best to just be yourself. Who wants to be a success as someone that they are not?! No thank you.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think people would miss our physician-patient connection and the service we provide in our office. We keep close communication with our patients, and we try to address any concerns as well as we can. We are also a fun office and have good working relationships with out patients. I think they’d miss the atmosphere we provide.
