Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with G Sparticus of Fort Lauderdale

We recently had the chance to connect with G Sparticus and have shared our conversation below.

Hi G, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Well, I guess you can call this a “calling,” but I’ve been afraid to focus on my original ideas(songwriting) for about 10 years now. Its a whole different game when it comes to original music. I started back up writing with my long-time friend and drummer Mark Leitz in New York as a duo at the beginning of 2024. After a great response, I worked on bringing other musicians on board, which took some time. I currently have a full band recording a demo soon to be released. Always a scare to present original content as opposed to the covers that Ive been used to performing for so many years now. The “fear” being that what I write will be well accepted by my peers.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is G Sparticus, and I’m a full-time musician/entertainer/songwriter. I perform at different venues and events. Pretty large repertoire, and I cover most of the music in my own particular style. I try to give a full sound with what I have. Started in Jan 2014 and have successfully made my mark in South Florida.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a sales professional/ customer service for many many years. From all types of electronics to eyewear, and even telemarketing for pest control. Even traveled internationally. In reality, you never really stop selling yourself. I believe that’s how you prosper. With all the knowledge and experience I’ve had, it’s helped me build a career in music.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I wouldn’t say I ever wanted to give up, but there were times when I thought I’ve reached my limit and needed to find something else. COVID is a huge example. I sat for 2 weeks considering that I needed to get back in the 9-5 workforce to make ends meet. Thankfully, my roommate was also my drummer, and we went live streaming for about a month and a half before we were asked to start performing outside again. Was able to raise enough money through donations to cover rent, bills, and food for both of us. So many people assured me I was on the right path with so much love and support. What a time!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Of course! What you see is what you get. I’d like to think I’m a very positive and passionate person, especially with music. Love to support and help anyone willing to create and dive into their dreams. The only thing that is different is my actual name versus my stage name. I like the separation from my personal life.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
The music!! haha.
