Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Cindy Hing of Fort Lauderdale

Cindy Hing shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Cindy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Last month was one of those moments that made me feel incredibly proud. The Palm Beach Film and Television Commission hosted an event at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts to honor the hosts and shows that received awards, and our team walked away with three awards for Day Tripping in The Palm Beaches and Fest Quest of The Palm Beaches.

Standing there, hearing our names called, I couldn’t help but smile. It was surreal. One of those moments where you look around and think, wow, we really did that. I felt proud not just of the recognition, but of the hard work, creativity, and heart our team puts into every episode. It was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do and how meaningful it is when the community celebrates it with us.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Cindy Hing, a host, producer, and storyteller who loves diving into the vibrant culture, people, and hidden gems that make The Palm Beaches such a special place. I currently host Day Tripping in The Palm Beaches and Fest Quest of The Palm Beaches, two shows that highlight everything from mouthwatering food and lively festivals to outdoor adventures and the remarkable individuals who bring our community to life. Day Tripping also shows viewers how to explore the area using eco-friendly transportation options, which is something I’m proud to promote as part of a more sustainable way to experience our community.

What sets my work apart is the heart and genuine curiosity behind it. I’m endlessly fascinated by the stories people carry and the places that shape them. I aim to bring that same joy, authenticity, and human connection into every episode. My favorite moments are when viewers get to see not just what to experience, but why it matters, whether it’s a small business pouring passion into their craft, a festival that unites the community, or a destination with a charm all its own.

My path has unfolded by staying true to who I am and embracing every chance to grow. What began as a simple love for connecting with people has evolved into a career that lets me lift up the stories around me and share them with a wider audience.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My dad has taught me the most about work. He has always amazed me with his ability to learn anything he sets his mind to, whether it’s related to his job, building furniture, renovating a house, or creating art. He’s a talented artist, and watching him bring ideas to life with his hands has always inspired me. He has this incredible mindset where he doesn’t wait for someone to show him how to do something. He simply figures it out, piece by piece, with patience, determination, and creativity.

Seeing him work over the years shaped the way I approach my own career. He taught me that resourcefulness is powerful, that effort and curiosity matter, and that you can learn almost anything if you’re willing to try. His example continues to guide me every day and reminds me to stay curious, keep learning, and always find a way forward.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would tell her that it is okay to be different and to not conform to others. All of that would shape who I am and lead me to amazing opportunities. I would remind myself that everything I am doing now, every bit of effort and every experience, will pay off and that things will turn out better than I could imagine. It is a message of trust, resilience, and believing in your own path.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is authenticity. I believe in doing what I say and saying what I mean. Honesty and integrity guide the way I live and work, and I value people who show up in the same way. For me, it’s about being true to yourself and keeping your word, whether it’s in big decisions or everyday actions.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop worrying and start truly living. I would focus on traveling more, exploring new places, and creating memories. I would spend more time with friends and family, cherishing every moment with the people I love. It would be about prioritizing joy, connection, and experiences over stress and doubt.
