We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christopher ‘Cush’ Arrue. Check out our conversation below.
Christopher ‘Cush’, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Judgment from others. Whether it’s peers, family, or professionals, I’ve learned that people often concern themselves with what others think of them.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Christopher ‘Cush’ Arrue. I am the Co-Founder of Forever Dope, d/b/a Apex Mountain, where I lead the creative and marketing direction, focusing on storytelling that resonates. Before launching Apex Mountain, I co-founded Forever Dope, a creative agency rooted in the music industry that also operated as a recording studio. I’m a South Florida native, born and raised. I’ve been married for 20 years and am a father of three. My hobbies outside of hunting and the outdoors are reading, listening to jazz music, collecting vinyl records, exercising, and watching mob movies.
Currently, we’re professional storytellers. Our mission is to bridge the gap between Urban and Outdoor Communities through fun and engaging media.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I was struck by a car at 13. I’ve always been a risk-taker, but after that accident, I became more calculating—sometimes to a fault. As I lay in the hospital in the moments that followed, I realized how fragile life truly is. The thought of potentially never seeing my family again changed something in me. I don’t like to waste time; I’d rather invest it where I’ll enjoy it most.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are loved. Hold on to your laughter—it will carry you through life. Stay open to opportunities, because the world rewards risk-takers. Lean into the challenge, knowing that anything worth having is worth fighting for. Most importantly, keep your faith as your tailwind.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Numbers. Statistics. Humans are more than figures on a budget or data points on a spreadsheet. We thrive on genuine interaction. As AI moves to the forefront, it’s more important than ever to ensure that authentic connections are built and nurtured.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
My faith—being called out of the wilderness—was the most pivotal moment in my adult life. For fifteen years, I carried the weight of my decisions squarely on my shoulders, along with every hardship life placed on my mind. Now, I lay anything and everything at the feet of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
