We recently had the chance to connect with Cassandra Spohn and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Cassandra, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up (5:45am) and the first thing I so is make coffee! Every. Day. Then, (on weekdays) I get everything ready for my daughter for school. She started Kindergarten this year! I wake up my daughter at 6:30am and get her ready. We leave the house at 7am and walk to school. For me, roundtrip takes an hour. And that’s how I start my day everyday!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cassandra Spohn. I moved to Florida in the fall or 2014 with my now husband, Jordan. Coming from Ohio, one thing we both really miss is the changing of the seasons- mostly the fall season. That being said, we decided to bring fall to Florida with Porch Perfect.
Porch Perfect is a boutique porch decorating business. Our packages can all be viewed and purchased online via our website: porchperfect.store. Our pumpkin displays enhance the beauty of the season and all can be customized with add-ons.
We started our website this past summer (July) and began taking orders in August.
We are located in Parkland, Fl. and our services areas include: Coral Springs, Boca Raton, Delray, Coconut Creek, and Parkland.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My daughter. She was born February 29, 2020. Right before everything shut down. She is an unique and amazing as her birthday suggests. She emulates true love in it’s purest form. She makes me want to be the best role-model I can be, and she makes me keep pushing, even when I don’t feel that I can. She makes me the best version of myself.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I was in the process of starting my own dance studio and Covid put a halt on that. It took me over a year to gain the confidence to get back into a dance studio and to put myself out there again.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I think in theory that people agree with me on this, but they act otherwise. You have to put yourself first. Not in a selfish way, but the reality is that you have one life to live and you’re the author. It is up to you to make sure you are living the life you want and putting yourself in the position to make it happen.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t be nice and helpful to others. I’m saying that you are replaceable in a lot of situations but there are a few that you aren’t. It’s important to realize that and make sure you are prioritizing yourself, your goals, aspirations, health, well-being and that of those you love most.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop stressing the little things and try to take a step back and enjoy my time being present and in the moment.
