Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Camilo Quinones & Maria Galvez

Camilo Quinones & Maria Galvez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Camilo & Maria, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of our day are intentionally structured to set the tone for the rest of the day. We begin by getting up and taking a few quiet moments for a small thanksgiving prayer. We spend time reading Scripture, which often helps us center our thoughts. We follow that with the Bible in a Year podcast and Pastor Rick Warren’s Daily Hope—both offer grounding and clarity before the day gets moving and we get ready for a small workout or a bicycle ride. We make our bed, check and respond to emails, and review our to-do list to mentally map out the day ahead. As part of our morning rhythm, we also rotate the cushions on both of our couches—a small but intentional habit that keeps them from wearing unevenly over time. we think it’s all part of maintaining a sense of order, discipline, and care—both personally and in our environment.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet CraftedHouse.com—a family-run brand where every jar tells a story. We specialize in small-batch nut butters, fruit spreads, and handcrafted condiments made with real, natural ingredients and zero shortcuts. From our best-selling Pistachio Butter to bold favorites like Habanero Gold Jam and Apple Butter, everything we create is rooted in quality, creativity, and care.

What sets us apart isn’t just what we make—it’s how we make it. Each batch is made by hand and elevated by thoughtful flavor pairings. Our products have developed a loyal following—and, as flattering as it is, even a couple of imitators! But, obviously there’s no substitute for our originallity, and we thank our customers because they know the difference.

CraftedHouse is about more than food—it’s about making something real, memorable, and worth sharing.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Well… here’s something we really think about every day:

Our opinion is that at the most profound level, it often comes down to what people understand and do with Christ. His presence, His message, and His call to surrender can either unite or divide. For some, the truth of Christ becomes a cornerstone—restoring relationships through forgiveness, humility, and a shared foundation of grace. For others, He becomes a stumbling block—confronting pride, challenging self-sufficiency, and drawing a line between light and darkness.

Christ exposes the heart. He calls us to die to self, to love sacrificially, to forgive relentlessly. When people yield to that calling, bonds are healed, families restored, enemies reconciled. But when hearts harden—when people reject His ways—division, ego, and bitterness often take root.

In this way, Christ doesn’t just mend what’s broken; He reveals what truly holds people together—and what never really did.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Only every Monday… Ha!!

But seriously, like most entrepreneurs, there are moments when the challenges feel bigger than the energy we have to face them. But life goes on and we too with it… Somehow—coffee, or tea, or prayer, the routine, perhaps a little bit of stubbornness keep us going. Mondays just happen to test it all.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That “organic” automatically means clean, healthy, or honest. Over the years we have learned that in reality, the label is often more marketing than meaning—used to cover up processed shortcuts, watered-down quality, and factory-made products dressed in rustic packaging.

The industry leans hard on image. It should go back to integrity.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Our Pistachio Butter… 100% that… Our imitators would be supper happy though… Ha!
