We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bitten/Destiny Miranda. Check out our conversation below.
Bitten/Destiny, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think a huge misunderstanding about my business is that people often don’t see or understand how intentional, knowledge based, and intimate the offerings are. Even something with the most simple ingredients is a result of nearly 10 years of personal development, connection, and lessons. My offerings are always done in a space of intentional chaos and alchemy, or in deliberate structured timing & creation. Additionally, very little of my craft is bought from big stores/brands, and at least 75% of my materials are thrifted, flipped, reused, or second hand! Living in accordance to Mother Earth and her spirits is a huge part of my spiritual craft and how I give back to my community and rebel against overconsumption. My business is for those who already have or are developing a deeper spiritual practice for themselves, no matter the path they walk. The heart and soul of Bitten’s Crafty is bespoke work & custom ritual sets! Anything can be weaved into an already existing practice or used to build new ones.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Bitten’s Crafty is a metaphysical/witchy support for the spiritual community in South Florida, specializing in curated magic and spells, ritual wares, enchantments, crystals, and herb & salt blends for various intentions. Bitten’s Crafty is a passion product and extension of us. We create hand made jewelry for more discreet magic, as well as hidden (aka broom closet) workings like charms, mojo bags, and spell sachets. We also have offerings ranging up to ritual kits, dressed candles and more, though these are usually based on astrology needs (such as a full moon or new moon box) or custom ordered based on what someone is going through! Some of our biggest hits are the spell candles, oils, and spell jars. The offerings at Bitten’s are always made to work best with the current astrology as well as the needs of the people. We are very conscious of the impacts consumerism and capitalism have had on the spiritual community, so we always encourage resourcefulness and DIY magic, as well as sharing knowledge and getting support when needed. We also repurpose a lot of our supplies, like jars and packing material. Our clients are looking to supplement and uplift their practice and enrich their own craft. We believe in reclaiming personal power, something that has helped in getting to where I am today. (Which was not easy, as its a very vulnerable line of service, and can attract less-than-wanted attention and judgments from those who have not explored beyond their societal indoctrination and biases. ) We work to weave a web between science, magic, and people, with education in psychology and trauma, and years of working experience as a Chaos Witch and Oracle. Bitten’s is also versed in deity work and divination and can aid in establishing a practice to connect with them for your own guidance. Often people come to us to chat about some of the signs or intuitive nudges we may experience if a deity is reaching out or calling us in. We work across multiple pantheons, and aim to learn more about different cultures as we grow, as connection always starts with research! We have worked with people who are turning to the craft for the first time, are breaking away from religion, as well as people who have their own craft and want supplement and a wide range of things in between. We are most excited to network and get back into sharing our own line of ritual offerings as we roll out new products and offerings, like our spell jar make up brush sets and zodiac empowerment prayer candles!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Releasing is a huge form of growth and expansion. I am no stranger to releasing, but still struggle at it. I think right now, just passed the Capricorn Full Moon, the part of me that has served a purpose and needs to be released is the version of me who hesitates due to a fear of instability. There is parts of me who fear facing the numbers, cold hard facts of life, and bypasses the very necessary work and action. I am releasing the procrastination and perfectionism and allowing myself to put down the limiting fear of my own power to change. The part of me that thrives in Doom’s Day Dreams and Existential Dread is no longer welcome in this next chapter of life. It served a purpose to protect me from running away and starting life in a new space, and while I don’t know if that opportunity will show up, I know I am addressing and dissolving the fear of travel and seeking to connect more to the vast land.
At the time of updating, the August Black Moon has just happened and I had a huge physical purge as I let go of limiting beliefs & personality ideas that hold me back, like the resistance of guidance and misusing my divine will to sabotage & procrastinate away the discomfort of growth & becoming.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of instability or insecurity, ironically enough. I have always feared changing so hard or so drastically that it leaves me unachored or alone, and in this time of my life that’s a real possibility! Being able to embody the choices and actions that support me best without subconscious fear sabotaging me is the biggest form of root rot I have faced in myself. Fear is an indicator of gratitude deficiency. Fear of being alone stems from this deficiency, and has prevented me from really digging up my power and discovering who I am, so I am learning and challenging myself to embody independence in the real world and really grabbing my Aries Moon by the horns.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Sovereignty and self sufficiency while living in my dream industry! I am working towards owning my own witchy store and craft space. I dream of carrying other small artists work, and having a space for witchy thrifting of gently used materials, like burn bowls, candle holders, altar tools, and more! I dream of selling my own cold tea & juice bottles for aura care & nutritional benefits, and hosting craft nights, workshops, and more!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I am fine tuning and web weaving financial freedom and a network of suppliers, sources, and creators. Creating a social legacy built on authenticity, expression, and resistance to societal norms. I am building a movement practice to help keep me at an acceptable and healthy quality of life as I age and develop new relationships with food and nutrition. These webs look like investing, saving, muscle building, shadow work, developing and more! Getting really familiar with my preferred poison and how it affects me so I can combat and move away from these stifling behaviors,
