Baelondra shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Baelondra, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
whenever i get the time to sit and let my creative juices flow and simmer. with no expectations. just letting songs, words, melodies, and music video ideas flow to me. taking the time to honor them and put pen to paper and giving them the space to come to fruition. i believe ideas are gifts from God and its up to us to present them to the world.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
my name is Baelondra, and i’m a songwriter an artist from Pembroke Pines, FL. My fans tend to compare my sound to Tinashe, Aaliyah, SZA, Summer Walker… I’ve even gotten Doja Cat at one point. I started out creating R&B music but quickly moved onto genre bending. I don’t like to be confined. I like to hop around and have the freedom to express myself on any beat or genre. i think the best artists are versatile in that way. My latest project, WAVES, a 4 song EP, really demonstrates that. I sing, I rap, I harmonize, I can be playful or emotional. It all depends on my mood and what my creative mind deems right to speak on at the time.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
a bouncy playful free spirit who shoots out rainbows and creative juices from my fingertips without trying. i’m mostly the same except the world teaches you to contain yourself.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
be yourself. your charm and wit will get you far. and you will have yourself to thank.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
my family, my art & traveling the world
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
working 9-5.
