Jojo Tesini of Miami Gardens on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jojo Tesini. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Jojo, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Iv started to enjoy and find my stride with streaming. Generally, I start my day in the gym, then once I’m settled back in at home, I officially start my day with a gaming stream.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jojo, a self-taught photographer from Miami. I don’t consider myself an Artist, but I do have artistic ability. I work with multiple art forms, so it’s hard for me to openly say I mastered a specific one. Photography is my primary, followed by resin crafts and acrylic pour paintings.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I was very shy. I had this belief that no one wanted to hear what I had to say. So I usually just kept to myself outside of neighborhood friends and classmates. I was a young father, so it changed my perspective on how I wanted to be heard. I learned because I needed to provide and wanted to show my children that speaking up for what we believe matters.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I can’t say it was one specific time I wanted to give up because there were more times than I can count. Life for some of us isn’t as straight a path. Being a father so young didn’t allow me to give up. There were definitely times with tears in my eyes and shaky hands, I had to stand back up, dust off, and keep going.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In photography and in art, especially. Popularity dictates talent a good amount of the time. Not always, but especially with social media being what it is. The following can put some people in positions where more talented people sometimes deserve to be.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
letting go of what people labeled me when I was younger. ” I can’t do this because they said I can’t.” Being a dreamer surrounded by people who had their own perception of me made me change who I understood myself to be. I doubted so much of my abilities because I was constantly told those abilities had no greater use.
