We recently had the chance to connect with Jennifer Ann Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer Ann, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now I am learning from all of the lessons that life is teaching me everyday. So often, as humans, we don’t listen to ourselves or what is happening in our lives to see what we need to learn.
If we just slowed down a bit and paid attention to all the things that are “lessons’ for us we would be so much stronger. I have learned that when I am faced with a challenge, or even something that is joyful I ask myself what the lesson is in that moment so that I don’t waste the moment. I learn something from it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the founder of True Fashionistas, the largest lifestyle resale store in Florida, and a renowned small business coach who empowers small businesses to achieve their goals without sacrificing their well-being. I have been an entrepreneur for over 25 years.
Once a national model and actress, I pivoted to build a $50 million+ resale empire with True Fashionistas, Florida’s largest lifestyle resale store. I know the struggle of juggling business growth, personal branding, and a life you love. That’s why I built a roadmap for success, The Confident Entrepreneur. Now, I am a renowned coach, author of the Amazon bestseller “Grace & Grit: Becoming a Confident Entrepreneur,” and host of the award-winning The Confident Entrepreneur podcast which was just named one of the top 100 female hosted podcasts in the country. I am a Gulfshore Life Businesswoman of the Year honoree, Small Business Association Emerging Leader, Distinguished Entrepreneur Nominee and Leadership Florida graduate.
My expertise has landed me features on Inside Edition, Home Delivery, and countless national TV and radio shows. I have also spoken on countless national stages. I have been published in TIME Magazine, Martha Stewart, CNBC, US News and World Report, The Associated Press, Newsweek, Vogue and Real Simple, among others.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with one of my closest and dearest friends. She helped me step into my own claim or be who I am unapologetically.
She helped me see that my opinion and my voice matter and to use that voice for others to have their voice. She also really showed me that my actions have ripple effects on all those around me
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding in my pain and started using it for power when I realized that my story matters and I can actually help someone else who may be in a similar position I just have to share my story.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Core values and spreading the importance of them. individuals don’t realize the importance of them. They are the foundation of all the decisions that you make in your life. They guide you and steer you in the right direction.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am doing what I was born to do. From owning my resale store to my speaking career. This is the path that God has led me on and I have the excitement everyday of a kid in a candy store when I can get up and do what I love.
