We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jackie Armour. Check out our conversation below.
Jackie, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Most days I enter the office early to review renderings, checking emails, texts, and client messages. Then I review appointments for that day: client meetings, vendor calls and site visits. I finalize mood boards, material palettes, space plans. Possibly, creating presentations or refining concepts for high-end clients. Then I check progress on installations or renovations. Often meeting with contractors, architects, and builders to resolve issues. Ensuring that the construction or styling aligns with the design vision. My team brainstorms with me about creative solutions for design challenges. I visit
jobs in progress and sometimes have networking luncheons. In the evenings, I often attend industry events, launch parties or have dinner with writers, editors or clients.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jackie Armour, the founder and principal designer of JMA Interior Design, an interior design studio specializing in elevated, timeless spaces that blend luxury with livability. I’ve always believed that great design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating environments that evoke feeling, tells a story, and supports how people truly live.
At JMA Interior Design, we work with discerning clients—from homeowners to developers and contractors—offering full-service design that is deeply personal and highly curated. Each project is a unique collaboration, guided by our signature approach: refined palettes, rich textures, and an emphasis on craftsmanship and authenticity. Whether it’s a serene coastal retreat, a layered city penthouse, or a heritage home restoration, we strive to honor both the space and the people who inhabit it.
What makes our studio special is our obsessive attention to detail and our commitment to artistry—every space we touch is infused with custom elements, bespoke furnishings, and thoughtful storytelling. We partner closely with artisans and specialty vendors around the world to bring one-of-a-kind pieces and experiences to life.
JMA Interior Design’s approach to design goes beyond mere aesthetics; it’s about creating a holistic experience that enhances the quality of life for the homeowners. It’s this philosophy that positions our team not just as a designers but as visionaries redefining luxury living. Our work in Jupiter, throughout Florida and beyond, is a beacon of how luxury and comfort can coexist harmoniously, anchored in natural beauty. Jackie Armour invites us into a world where each space is a serene retreat, perfectly in tune with its surroundings and the lifestyles of those who inhabit them.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
As a child one of my best friend’s fathers was an architect and I was captivated by their home. Another close childhood friend’s father was a builder, and we were fortunate enough to sometimes visit job sites. And then my parents were so creative and inspirational. During the 1960s and 1970s they bought, renovated and sold homes. All of these elements escalated my inner passion for design and my desire to one day be an interior designer.
Then, twenty+ years ago, I found myself as a stay-at-home mother, deeply invested in my family but also nurturing a passion for interior design. One pivotal moment changed the trajectory of my life: my home was featured in the Palm Beach Post This recognition not only validated my talent but secured me two interior design projects. A fire within me was then ignited to pursue my passion professionally.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Building a creative business, especially in the high-end design world, comes with incredible highs and some deeply discouraging lows. One moment that stands out was early on in my career when a major project—one I had poured my heart into—fell apart just days before installation due to unforeseen client issues. And then there was the COVID
pandemic which affected our work, by supplies being delayed and homeowners weary about having people in their homes.
What got me through wasn’t some overnight revelation, but a quiet decision to keep going, even if I had to take one slow, uncertain step at a time. I reminded myself why I started: my love for storytelling through space, my deep belief in the power of design to transform how people live and feel. That moment forced me to create stronger boundaries, improve my business systems, and trust my instincts more fiercely.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Integrity—always. In the world of design, where aesthetics often steal the spotlight, I’ve learned that integrity is the quiet but essential foundation of everything meaningful. For me, that means being honest with clients, transparent in business practices, respectful toward collaborators, and true to the creative vision.
I protect integrity in every phase of my work, whether it’s crediting artisans properly, being upfront about timelines and budgets, or turning down projects that don’t align with my values. It also extends to how I treat my team—fostering a culture where voices are heard, diversity is embraced, and people feel genuinely valued.
Design trends come and go, but integrity builds trust, long-term relationships, and a reputation that can’t be manufactured. It’s the one cultural value I will never compromise—because when you have it, everything you create has more meaning and impact.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in those quiet moments when a space I’ve envisioned for months—sometimes years—finally comes to life. When the light hits just right, the textures speak to one another, and there’s a sense of balance and calm you can feel without saying a word.
There’s something incredibly grounding about walking through a finished project before anyone else arrives. When the energy of a space has been thoughtfully brought to life. It’s in that stillness that I’m reminded why I do what I do: to create beauty, comfort, and a sense of belonging for others.
