Inspiring Conversations with Wanda Lee Del Valle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wanda Lee Del Valle.

Wanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since I lived in PR both my husband and I dreamed of having a restaurant, I love to cook, he always worked with budget and finances so we could make a good team. In 2013 we moved to Florida, I never studied cooking, I have a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and I got a job in a hotel and then in a restaurant in Broward and I began to learn more about the culinary world.

In 2015 I lost my job and told my husband that he would not work for any employer again and that it was time to make dreams come true. In January 2016 I had the opportunity to make myself known in a Puerto Rican activity here in Miami called “Fiestas de la Calle”, we set up our tent and it was a total success. That activity was the push to decide to buy a food truck and continue carrying the authentic flavor of our Puerto Rican cuisine. In June 2016 we were already on the street until today we have been 6 years thank God.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been easy, but it has been rewarding. I think the biggest challenge was to get that place to be able to establish our spot and meet all the requirements established by the city.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ay Bendito con Sabor a Puerto Rico?
Our specialty is authentic food from Puerto Rico, that flavor and seasoning that I inherited from my mother, grandmother, and aunts.

In our truck everything is made at the moment, there is no precooked or reheated food. In addition to having our spot, we do private parties, catering, and corporate lunches. We are proud as owners to be able to attend to our clients personally, we have an exceptional work team.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We would like to be able to buy a bigger truck to streamline the kitchen line and be more comfortable, so we could add more dishes to our menu and continue to bring that authentic flavor that has characterized us for the past 6 years.
