Hi Troykesia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I had a strong drive and a clear vision. At around 5 or 6 years old, I’d watch my aunt Bonnie do hair in our urban neighborhood, where she styled everyone who came to her. I mimicked everything she did, practicing on my Barbie dolls and developing a love for hair that would later shape my career. My journey began with small hustles, like selling snacks from home, and I held my first job at Dunkin’ Donuts at 14, working every summer. I balanced school with jobs at Dunkin’ and McDonald’s, excelling as a student and always aiming high. After graduating high school, I went straight into the Army, and once I returned, I trained in dental assisting and hygiene. I later enrolled in cosmetology school to pursue my true passion, while taking on security jobs along the way to support my goals and build my future.
When I started my hair business, I began in my living room, traveling from Miami to Broward up to four times a day to reach clients. I continuously invested in my skills, even flying to New York to train and expand my expertise. Coming from a background where my parents were incarcerated when I was young, I held onto my dreams and worked tirelessly to create my own path. Today, I continue to grow, learning more and inspiring other women to believe that no matter where you come from, you can create success on your own terms.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my journey, I’ve faced many obstacles that challenged me but ultimately made me stronger. I fought through depression, battling internal struggles even as I worked tirelessly toward my goals. I’ve lost friends and family along the way, experiencing deep grief and learning to move forward despite it. Having my daughter brought new responsibilities and taught me to balance motherhood with my growing business. I also started my business with limited resources, working out of my living room and often traveling miles to reach clients, determined to make it work. Facing financial setbacks, I had to budget carefully and reinvest every dollar I earned back into my business, often sacrificing my own comfort for the sake of my dreams.
Each of these challenges pushed me, and through them, I found resilience. Today, I use my journey to inspire other women, showing that, regardless of the obstacles, success is possible with determination and hard work.

In the next 5–10 years, I see the beauty and hair industry becoming more global and interconnected, with a strong focus on education, quality, and accessibility. My goal is to expand my brand worldwide, creating a network of salons and a warehouse that will serve as a foundation for consistent quality and exceptional customer service. By opening salons staffed with highly trained employees who embody my standards, I aim to ensure that every client receives the same level of care and expertise. Additionally, I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring others in the field, helping upcoming stylists gain the skills and knowledge to succeed. I envision my brand not only offering premium hair products and services but also becoming a trusted source for education, empowering stylists everywhere to elevate their craft and meet the demands of an evolving industry.
