Inspiring Conversations with Tatiana Lampa of Training with T

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Lampa.

Hi Tatiana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been an athlete for as long as I can remember. I took my training seriously from high school to college. I was a college cheerleader and dancer. I loved every moment of practicing competing to building relationships with my teammates. To me, it felt natural going into the fitness route. I wanted to become a physical therapist, so I worked day and night to hit my goal.

I graduated with Nutrition and Exercise Sciences from Queens College and figured I’d become a personal trainer to save money for graduate school. Long story short, I fell in love with training and transforming people’s lives. I knew becoming a physical therapist would be my favorite pastime.

As a first-generation American, I felt pressure to be in the medical field. I was terrified to disappoint my parents. I kept thinking they came to this country for me to make something of myself. I had to constantly fight with myself on my vision was different from my family.

Although I didn’t become a physical therapist, I built a fitness business that made my parents proud! I was working from 5 am to 9 pm 6-7 days a week from teaching group fitness classes in NYC to personal training sessions to running to castings. My days were never-ending, but I loved EVERY second of it. When building my brand, my vision was so clear and I knew what I wanted to accomplish.

I believe all those years of me working an insane amount of hours built resilience and commitment to who I am. I knew I can accomplish anything that was thrown at me. Although, I didn’t become the physical therapist I wanted to be. I was able to bridge the gap between fitness and physical therapy. I am a fitness coach with a focus on corrective exercise. My goal is to help women move without back pain so they can enjoy their workouts.

Today I run my fitness app – Training with T App (voted the best fitness app for challenges by Women’s Health Magazine), my online program Move Better, train 1 on 1 client, work as a fitness consultant for gyms and studios, and freelancer writer for Good House Keeping Magazine, teach and write for Women’s Health Magazine and Strong Fitness Magazine and work with some incredible brands like Hyperice, Muscle Milk.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Wasn’t a smooth road. I believe the pressure from my parents made it difficult for them to accept my career choice. After a few years, they saw how committed I was and that my little personal training business was SO much more than that!

In terms of building my brand and business. There have been numerous amount of obstacles. Going from in-person to 80% online was quite the transition. Learning the tech side of everything I believe was the hardest part.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fitness Business. I train clients virtually and in person. I have a fitness app that has members logging in worldwide. What sets me and my business apart is that I am a corrective exercise specialist.

My main focus is decreasing back pain which 80% of Americans have suffered from at one time or another. I believe the form is everything and the way we move is important to decrease pain and injuries. With my coaching cues, I make sure my clients and members understand the importance of moving better.
