Inspiring Conversations with Sergeline Hyppolite of LaBelleMinks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergeline Hyppolite.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Sergeline Hyppolite. I’m Haitian American, born and raised in South Florida, and my journey into the beauty and aesthetics industry actually began with my mom.

Growing up, I remember watching her mix different creams and products together to help friends and family with their skin. One thing about my mom was that she loved seeing women feel beautiful. Whenever someone was experiencing an issue with their skin, she would immediately start asking questions about their skincare routine, what products they were using, and what she could do to help. I always admired that about her. She genuinely wanted women to feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. My own professional journey started with lashes. I received my lash certification on November 17, 2016, and I haven’t looked back since. I worked as a lash artist for several years before deciding to further my education and obtain my esthetician license. That’s when I fell in love with the very thing my mom loved skincare.

Becoming an esthetician gave me a deeper understanding of the passion my mom had for helping women improve their skin and their confidence. Over the years, I’ve continued building my experience through my own business, providing services including lash extensions, customized facials, skincare treatments, waxing, and other aesthetic services. This November marks an especially meaningful milestone for me: 10 years since I began my professional journey in the beauty industry. After nearly a decade, I’m ready to take everything I’ve learned and move into the next chapter of my career. I’m currently researching programs and preparing to return to school in the upcoming year so I can continue my education and eventually expand into medical aesthetics.

I truly love what I do, especially the joy that comes from helping people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. I’m also currently developing my own skincare and candle brand, which I’m preparing to launch before the end of the year. Ultimately, I want to continue growing, learning, and expanding within the aesthetics industry while building something meaningful of my own. In many ways, what started with watching my mom care for other women’s skin has come full circle, and I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship has taught me that having a passion for what you do is only one part of building a successful business. I’ve had to learn how to wear many hats—being the service provider, managing clients, marketing my business, handling finances, purchasing supplies, continuing my education, and figuring out how to keep moving forward even during difficult seasons.

One of my biggest personal challenges has been consistency and discipline within my own business. There have been times when I struggled to stay consistent with myself, my goals, and the vision I had for my business. Entrepreneurship can test you in ways you never expect. There are moments when you become tired, discouraged, or question whether you should keep going.

For me, my faith has played a major role in getting through those moments. Prayer and having a relationship with God are extremely important to me because there have been many times when I felt like giving up, but somehow God always came through and reminded me why I started. I’ve learned that when things become difficult, you have to go back to the original vision and remember what made you start in the first place. You cannot allow that vision to get lost along the way.
I’ve also learned that entrepreneurship requires patience, discipline, adaptability, and the willingness to keep learning. There have been busy seasons and slow seasons, and I’ve had to learn how to adjust rather than allow setbacks to define me. Balancing entrepreneurship with other responsibilities while continuing to pursue my education has also challenged me, but it has taught me a lot about perseverance.

I don’t necessarily believe there is a true finish line in entrepreneurship. To me, entrepreneurship is more like a revolving door. You reach one goal, and that goal becomes the starting point for the next one. There is always another level to reach, another idea to develop, another business to build, or another way to grow. I also believe it’s okay to evolve and not stay with one business forever. Sometimes growth means recognizing when it’s time to start something new while carrying everything you learned from what came before.

Looking back, I’m actually grateful that the road wasn’t perfect because the challenges taught me resilience, patience, discipline, faith, and the importance of staying connected to my vision. Nearly ten years later, I’m still here, still learning, still creating, and still moving forward. I think one of my biggest accomplishments is simply that I kept going.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
LaBelleMinks is a beauty and aesthetics business that I founded in 2016 with the goal of helping people feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. What began with my passion for lash extensions has grown into a business centered around skincare, beauty, and personalized self-care.

Today, LaBelleMinks offers a variety of aesthetic services, including customized facials for women and men, skincare treatments, microdermabrasion, detox and hydrating facials, back facials, vajacials, full-body waxing, and lash extensions ranging from classic to volume sets.

What sets LaBelleMinks apart is the personal experience I create for every client. I believe skincare and beauty should never be a one size fits all experience. I take the time to understand each client’s needs, concerns, and goals so I can provide services that are personalized to them. My goal is not simply to provide a service, but to create an environment where people feel comfortable, cared for, and confident.

I’m especially proud of the fact that I have continued building LaBelleMinks for nearly a decade. Remaining in business, continuing to learn, adapting to changes in the beauty industry, and continuing to serve my clients through different seasons has been one of my greatest accomplishments as an entrepreneur.

Right now, my primary focus is taking LaBelleMinks into its next phase by developing my own product line and creating a retail component within my business. I want my clients to be able to take the experience home with them through products that support their skincare and self-care routines beyond their appointments. I’m currently working on developing products that reflect the quality, aesthetic, and vision behind my brand.

Long term, I see LaBelleMinks continuing to evolve into a larger beauty and aesthetics brand. I’m also researching opportunities to further my education and eventually expand into medical aesthetics. My vision is to build a brand that goes beyond individual services and becomes a complete experience centered around skincare, wellness, beauty, and confidence.

At its heart, LaBelleMinks is about helping people feel good about themselves and reminding them that taking care of themselves is something they deserve. I’m excited about this next chapter because I’m not just continuing the business I started nearly ten years ago I’m building the foundation for where I want it to go next.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was spending my summers in Haiti. Those trips were much more than vacations to me. They gave me the opportunity to learn about my culture, my family’s history, and the traditional ways people in Haiti have cared for themselves and their communities for generations.

I remember learning about different plants, what they were traditionally used for, and how natural ingredients could be incorporated into health and skincare. Haiti taught me to appreciate the importance of natural remedies, teas, oils, herbs, and other traditional practices. Being there helped me connect with my motherland and understand where my parents came from on a much deeper level. Those experiences are something I will always cherish.

Some of my most meaningful childhood memories, however, are also connected to my mom. I remember riding around with her going to different stores and spending what felt like hours in beauty supply stores looking at soaps, creams, oils, and different skincare products. I used to get so irritated with her sometimes because I would see her using what I thought was just bleaching cream, but as I got older, I realized she was actually experimenting with different products to address acne, cystic bumps, and dark spots. She was always curious about skincare and always looking for ways to help herself and the women around her feel better about their skin.

I also remember watching both of my parents get up early every morning to go sell merchandise at the Swap Shop. When my parents separated, it became me and my mom going together. I became her little helper. I remember helping her set up her merchandise and watching her prepare for people to come by and shop. I could see how hard she worked, especially while adjusting to life after the separation.

Looking back, I realize those moments taught me much more than I understood as a child. Watching my mom get up every morning, work hard, serve people, and keep going taught me consistency, resilience, determination, and what it means to be a go-getter. I believe a lot of the entrepreneur I am today comes from watching my parents work and watching my mom never stop trying.

I miss my mom tremendously, and losing her has made these memories even more meaningful. When I think about my childhood, I don’t just remember the places we went or the things we did. I remember what she taught me without even realizing she was teaching me. Haiti taught me where I came from, my mom taught me how to keep going, and both experiences helped shape the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
