Inspiring Conversations with Olga Garcia-Mayoral of OGCURATED INC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Garcia-Mayoral.

Olga Garcia-Mayoral

Olga, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a first-generation Cuban American Art Historian and Theologian who fell in love with how art shapes people and place—especially here in Miami. I studied Museum Studies at MDC and Art History at FIU and began my career inside the city’s cultural ecosystem, learning museum education and visitor experience at HistoryMiami Museum and the Frost Art Museum before moving into galleries across Wynwood and Coral Gables. Those years—curating, coordinating, and building relationships—taught me how exhibitions can serve as bridges between artists and communities.

A pivotal chapter for me was at ARTECHOUSE in Miami Beach, where I assisted with exhibitions such as Refik Anadol’s “Infinite Space” and other immersive shows. That’s where my curiosity about the creative-human experience and technology crystallized: how new media, sound, and space can ignite wonder and dialogue. From there, I led digital outreach and engagement efforts with nonprofits, strengthening my commitment to access, storytelling, and community partnerships.

I founded OGCURATED INC, a virtual and creative consultancy focused on contemporary art and installations. We curate exhibitions, produce educational publications, and emphasize public art and experiences. We’re devoted to Art, Community & Discovery—and one of the ways we live that out is by partnering with local nonprofits to coordinate art auctions and fundraising that elevate our artists while driving awareness and impact. As a leading online gallery rooted in Miami, we’re growing opportunities for artists with innovative commissions and tailored creative consultation.

Recent curatorial and programming highlights span Miami’s independent and institutional scenes—projects with Dorfsman Fine Arts, Zapata Gallery, and MUD Foundation—alongside education initiatives that invite new audiences into the work. I continue to invest in scholarship, too; I’m pursuing graduate studies in Theology at STU, exploring Marian iconography and contemporary devotional practices, which deepens my research on image, ritual, and cultural memory.

Today, OGCURATED INC, is my way of threading together everything I care about: nurturing artists, growing Miami’s creative community, and exploring the future where art and technology meet.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not a smooth road—especially in South Florida’s arts ecosystem during and after COVID.

When exhibitions shut down and funding contracted, I had to pivot overnight: moving programs online, rethinking how to activate audiences digitally, and finding new pathways for artists to earn. Those months sharpened my instincts for community-first strategy—doubling down on outreach, partnerships, and mission-driven storytelling to keep artists visible and supported.

Practically, that meant embracing a hybrid model with OGCURATED INC—curating virtual shows, coordinating art auctions with local nonprofits, and designing campaigns that could raise awareness and revenue. My background in fundraising, event management, and community engagement helped me rebuild momentum despite shrinking budgets and venue uncertainty.

Another challenge was sustaining early-career and immigrant artists whose networks were disrupted. I leaned on Miami relationships formed across museums, galleries, and experiential spaces—to keep collaboration channels open and audiences curious. Those roles taught me how to adapt quickly, manage visitor experience, and translate complex shows into accessible programming—skills that proved essential during the pandemic reset.

Today, the lesson sticks: build resilient systems that don’t rely on a single format or funder, invest in education and community access, and keep experimenting at the intersection of art and technology. It’s how we’ve continued to serve Miami’s artists and audiences, even when circumstances shift.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about OGCURATED INC?
I lead OGCURATED INC, a virtual and creative consultancy rooted in Miami that champions Art, Community & Discovery. We specialize in contemporary art and installations—designing exhibitions, curating immersive/public art experiences, and producing education-forward publications and programs. Our model blends curatorial rigor with community impact: we partner with local nonprofits to coordinate art auctions and fundraising initiatives that elevate artists while fostering cultural awareness.

Curatorial & Exhibition Design: From gallery shows to new media/immersive projects, I’ve coordinated and curated across Miami’s ecosystem and independent galleries—bringing ambitious ideas to life with strong visitor experience and storytelling.

Education & Community Programs: We build engagement through talks, workshops, and school collaborations—bridging artists and audiences with accessible, research-driven content.

Auctions, Fundraising & Partnerships: We regularly team up with Miami nonprofits and cultural spaces to create campaigns that support artists and community needs.

Interdisciplinary practice: I operate at the intersection of the artist’s studio, the curator’s strategy, the consultant’s problem-solving, and the writer’s voice—a 360° approach that keeps the artist’s intent, the audience experience, and the client’s goals aligned. My background combines museum education, gallery curating, experiential coordination, and digital outreach, enabling projects to move from concept to impact with clarity.

Community-first, mission-driven: With 10+ years in community engagement, fundraising, and storytelling, I build partnerships and visibility that translate into real outcomes for artists and institutions.
Miami roots, global curiosity: We’re proudly committed to Miami—its artists, schools, parishes, and cultural hubs—while tracking global cultural movements to keep our programming fresh and connected.

I’m proud that OGCURATED INC. consistently marries quality curation with access and outreach —from directing community programs and benefit auctions to shaping exhibitions across South Florida. The through-line is generosity: projects that serve artists and invite the public into meaningful encounters with art.

Curatorial direction & exhibition production (galleries, alternative spaces, institutions).
Education programming (talks, workshops, curricula) and community engagement strategy.
Art auctions & fundraising campaigns in partnership with local organizations.
Writing & publications —from curatorial texts to artist features and educational guides.

In short: I’m an artist-curator-consultant-writer shaping experiences where creativity and community meet technology—with Miami at the heart of it. If you’re exploring commissions or creative consultation, I’d love to collaborate and build something resonant together.

What’s next?
I’m doubling down on a four-part practice—artist, curator, consultant, and writer—and building bridges from Miami to new hubs across the U.S. and Europe. Writing & publications: I’ll keep contributing arts-and-culture pieces and curatorial essays, expanding into bilingual (EN/ES) publishing and short-form guides that make contemporary art more accessible. My background in storytelling and public-facing education gives me a strong base to grow this arm.

My artistic practice: I’m developing a body of work that converses with devotional imagery, memory, and technology—research I’ve been pursuing through graduate study (Marian iconography) will inform new series, text-based pieces, and intimate installations.

Curating across regions: With OGCURATED INC, I’m planning traveling and pop-up exhibitions, artist features, and public programs in other U.S. cities and in Europe—partnering with galleries, cultural centers, and faith-and-culture venues to spark dialogue between local communities and global movements. This builds on years of exhibition production, museum education, and immersive projects in Miami’s ecosystem.

Consulting & commissions: I’m scaling creative consultation for nonprofits, brands, and municipalities—especially public/immersive art and community-centered initiatives (auctions, benefit shows, engagement strategy). I want to pilot micro-commission opportunities and artist development labs that pair mentorship with fundraising.

Education & outreach: I’ll expand accessible programming—talks, workshops, school partnerships—and test hybrid models that blend IRL activations with digital content so audiences can engage wherever they are. My focus remains on culturally responsive, bilingual experiences that welcome first-time visitors as much as seasoned collectors.

In short, I’m growing OGCURATED INC beyond Miami while keeping our roots here—writing more, showing more, and collaborating more widely—so that artists and audiences meet in surprising, meaningful ways from South Florida to the U.S. and Europe.
